 Etain could hardly believe it had only been a short time ago that she was wondering if any of her family were even still about - and now here she was searching for a missing father after running across not only one of her siblings..but two! Of course their reunion would have been far more joyous if Aquila hadn't brought such worrying news with her...but beggar's can't be choosers she supposed and Etain was determined to put the mystery of her fathers disappearance behind them as quickly as possible so that they could get along with reacquainting themselves.
Which meant she really needed to stop woolgathering and pay attention to the lands she was flying over the golden Nequus chastised herself inwardly, before dipping her left wing to swoop in a far reaching circle, eyes narrows to spot any hint of an equally golden Jala down below.

Eacles stood dozing within the sheltering branches of a scrawny beach tree - it wasn't much of a tree really but it was wedged up against a rock just so and cut down on the sea breeze floating in over the water considerably. It was in fact on his more favored spots when he was wandering in this area not least because it was generally over looked by other passing Nequus.
No one looked to closely at a ratty tree by an ugly boulder after all - which was just fine with him. More then fine really and the Yellow coated Nequus was having a rather fine afternoon sheltered from the blazing sun - and yet still close enough to be lulled to sleep by the ocean's crashing waves. Why the only thing better would be the arrival of someone to torment or annoy - of course that would put a stop to his plesant lazy afternoon he thought and spent a few moments trying to decide which would indeed be better.
Probably the lazy afternoon - other Nequus had a habit of ruining his fun after all.

Etain was on the verge of winging off towards a different section of the wave washed shore when between some twisted brown branches crawling alongside a rather nifty shaped boulder a glimmer of yellowish color caught her eye. It was hard to tell the exact shade due to the tree's shadow.
"It can't possibly be that easy..and I'm definitely not that lucky"
The golden Jala murmured to herself - and even partly turned away before thinking twice and swooping back - it wouldn't take to long to at least check and she'd fret about it all day if she didn't, be pestered by countless 'what if's'.
Tucking her wings in Etain dove towards the ground, coming to a sliding stop and spraying beach sand against the rock in her hurry. Eyes bright she peered between the branches to see....a Reya. A bright yellow one with swirly patterns of brown across his hide. Definitely NOT her father.
"I'm sorry.."
She hastily apologized for her rude entrance and backed up somewhat unfolding her wings as thought fly off again
"I thought you might be someone else"

Eacles nearly lept out of his skin at the Jala's sudden arrival and peering eyes. What in the heck! did nature have some sort of vendetta against him? here he'd decided that a nice calm afternoon was preferable to company of any sorts and not but a few minutes some nut job Jala come's swooping in like a hawk after a rabbit. Recovering from his shock he gave her a nasty look behind her back as she turned about and seemed about to leave again. well good riddance!
And then her words sunk into his brain and Eacles nasty expression morphed into a nicer one as he stepped forward inwardly cackling. Perhaps this gold colored mare with her oddly colored mis-matched tail would prove to be a bit entertaining after all. Eacles was all about entertainment - as long as it was at the cost of others anyways.
"Oh no...it's alright, you just startled me. Most Nequus don't notice anything but the sandy beach when their walking along this stretch.."
The yellow Reya hinted subtlety it was always better if they told him what they were looking for rather then him asking - they tended to be more suspicious with the latter.

Etain paused as the Reya - whom she'd clearly disturbed from an afternoon nap or some such, poor creature had looked about to have a heart attack she recalled - she felt bad for that she really did but well she hadn't had time for a polite approach. just as she didn't really have time to stand about and chat now did she? She turned back to look at the brightly colored Reya, letting her wings settle back for a moment as she took in his pleasant expression.
Etain didn't have anything against Reya per say - to be honest she'd never really met to many before but she'd heard others speak of them - and it was rarely in a favorable manner, they were sneaky and somewhat Xenophobic most people said, although being the illegitimate daughter of a fairly important herd stallion Etain was willing to overlook most negative rumors she heard until she found out for herself.
And yet - despite this Reya's apparent cheery looks she couldn't help but think their was something off about him?
"Yes well, I am sorry for frightening you...I was searching for someone and got a little ahead of myself I guess"
She apologized once more - although she had already done so and didn't necessarily feel the need to do so again - she couldn't have frightened him that badly after all - and the beast ought to have been paying more attention to his surroundings the Jala mare thought with a little bit of irritability.
"Now..if you'll excuse me.."
Etain took a few steps away from the Reya, eyes traveling up and down the seashore as she tried to choose a direction in which to continue her searching.

Was that...a tinge of annoyance in the jala's voice as she spoke to him? Absurd he thought to himself - why if anyone had the right to be annoyed it was clearly him.
"I never said frightened..I said startled"
He popped off in a nasty tone before realizing he'd broken character - well drat, but being called 'frightened' was a bit of a sore spot with him, his siblings had all accused him of being a coward growing up and Eacle's lip always curled to be reminded of those times. Frowning to himself he trotted after the mare adopting a concerned tone in hopes of salvaging the situation.
"Now wait a second - your look awful worried, what is it you were looking for?"
He'd simply have to ask he figured - if he tried to goad her into telling him of her own free will she was likely to just fly off and that wouldn't achieve anything for him now would it? What a waste of an afternoon that would be Eacles thought to himself distastefully.

Etain replayed absent mindedly - whatever you say Reya she added inwardly - she wasn't stupid she had clearly seen the stallion was afraid regardless of whether he wanted to admit it to himself or not. Stallions she huffed to herself - always so pride filled. It would be nice to someday find one a little less full of himself.
She was practically ignoring him as he trotted to follow her, far more important things on her mind then him. His words however grabbed her attention once more and she halted swinging her head about to eye him once more. Well...she supposed it wouldn't hurt to at least ask him right?
"I was looking for my father...his name is Diego, I don't suppose you've heard that name anywhere have you?"

Oh how lovely Eacles thought to himself - she's looking for her father, a daddy's girl perhaps? the Reya thought with inner amusement. Family strife was so much fun to toy with.Oh yes he could most definitely have some fun with this.
Eacles screwed up his face as though thinking deeply about something - or retracing the conversations of the last few days. Of course the name Diego didn't come to mind at all - Eacles had no idea who the apparently missing stallion was, nor did he particularly care.
"No..no can't say I've heard of that name...although.."
The Reya trailed off and looked at the mare as though he was about to say something and then shook his head.
"Nah...I doubt it has anything to do with who our looking for but maybe ou ought to tell me what he looks like, I might have seen him go by after all"
He continued - fishing for more information to work off of.

Etain pounced on that particular comment, turning about to face the yellow Nequus completely and folding her wing in - it seemed perhaps she wouldn't be going anywhere right this moment after all.
"He's gold like me - only without the purple tail"
She stated quickly, taking a few steps closer to the Reya, not threatening him merely eager for whatever news he might have of her father, ears pricked and eyes concerned - apparently she had forgotten any doubt she might have had initially as to the Reya's character, his news was far more important then any assumptions she might have had after all.
"Have you heard anything?"

"Gold you say?"
Eacles commented - a slightly worried tone creeping into his voice, and although it was helpful it wasn't exactly faked. Eacles was somewhat concerned about how close the Jala mare was getting. Though taking a few steps back would make him seem suspicious so heart racing the stallion stood his ground. Oh Lordy what was he getting himself into?
"I..I'm afraid I have heard something about a golden stallion, but I warn you it's not good news..."
He quickly spit out, allowing his concern to flood through. Oh if this worked and she fell for it he'd have a barrel of laughs over it later. It wasn't the best joke he'd come up with - but the look on her face would be well worth it he thought.

Etain's mouth went dry at the worried tone in Eacles voice and she shuffled her wings to release the nervous tension - this didn't sounf good - no good at all she thought to herself as the swirly steed warned her that whatever he had heard was not good new. Dratted beast just spit it out already Etain thought as he stalled.
"well! get on with it already! he might need help!"
She nearly shrieked at the poor beast and then realizing that she was acting entirely uncouth and it was unacceptable despite the dire circumstances - he was trying to help her after all Etain shook her head and took a few steps back.
"I'm sorry, truly but if you could just tell me..."
She pleaded with the yellow stag.

Eacles had to try very hard to keep from outright shaking as the golden Jala yelled at him - if she fell for this he had better make tracks the reya thought to himself, she seemed like an excitable beast and after discovering this to be a lie would most likely come looking for him. Ah well..not to worry he told himself he'd be long gone by then.
Ah thankfully she backed off a little which allowed Eacles to steady himself somewhat and with the added space came a little more of his courage back, inwardly giddy Eacles made sure to keep a sad and concerned look on his face. Silly mare - this would be such fun - he hoped she wailed in misery - or even whimpered he could accept a whimper or two.
"Well I'm dearly sorry to tell you this, I really am but I heard.."
And here he paused because he hadn't really thought this far ahead quite yet and had to scramble for a decent lie. He recalled after a few moments a ravine not to far off and remembering the direction the Jala had arrived from he doubted she would have flown over it on her way here. Yes - the ravine would work well.
'Well...I heard that a golden colored Nequus was found laying in the bottom of the ravine a little to the west. I didn't get much else of the story I'm afraid - just over heard it from a few passing Nequus his morning"

Etain actually started to pace a little as the reya stallion drew out the news again - he seemed rather sorry to be telling her whatever it was and in Etains experience when someone really didn't want to tell you something - well it generally wasn't good news.
She gave a little gasp as he finally spit it out, a striken look on her face. a ravine? how on earth would he have ended up in a ravine?!? Etain couldn't fathom it but if he was sick as Aquilla had indicated then it was possible and it was the only lead she had.
"thank you!"
She shouted over her shoulder already rushing off in the indicated direction - she didn't have time to try and find her sisters - what if he was hurt? she'd go and look first and then figure out what to do, unfolding her wings she lept into the air.

Ah well that was slightly dissapointing Eacles thought to himself - the Jala neither whimpered or shrieked or fell apart in any way what so ever - although the stricken look on her face had been somewhat amusing and that cute little gasp.
The yellow reya chuckled slightly as Etain flew out of sight, he wished for a few moments that he could see the look on her face when she found out he'd sent her on a wild goose chase - o course being that close to her then might be a bit chancy, Indeed ..I should probably make tracks he thought to himself - he didn't really want to be around if she came back looking for some revenge,
Still cackling rather madly Eacles turned and trotted off in the opposite direction.

Etain flew at a steady pace in the direction of the ravine - she hadn't spent much time in this area but she vaguely recalled the area the stallion had described. If her memory was right the ravine was deep and shadowed - filled with jagged rocks and nasty crevices just waiting to break a Nequus' leg. It would be a terrible place to be - especially if you were hurt, Etain simply couldn't imagine being stuck down there alone.
Alighting on the edge of the ravine Etain peered over the side, stepping back as her hooves caused a small flury of stones to rattle over the edge. looking first left and then right the Jala mare saw no telltale flash of gold in the stones below or the brush over flowing the sides - of course that didn't mean much, cursory glances never did afterall.
"DIEGO!"
She shouted over the edge - listening as her voice Echoed along the chasm, pricked ears waited for any sort of response but of course - there was none. Snorting the Jala started off to the left, searching with eyes and ears, now and again calling out for the lost stallion when the ravine fettered out a few miles in that direction she retraced her steps and repeated the pattern to the right. nothing...not even a peep. Her hooves's stomped in anger - and yet she was scared to stop looking - what if she missed him?
"Causing an awful fuss - making it hard to hunt you know"
Came a rather irritated voice from below a red canine head popping up from a rock below to glare at the Nequus above.
Etain jerked her head around to peer at the voice which spoke to her in a rather growly tone - a canine, how interesting she'd seen them before of course but had never spoken to one personally.
"I'm ever so sorry - I'm looking for my father - he's gone missing you see"
Etain started to explain in apology when a thought struck her and she trotted a few steps along the ravine edge closer to the red canine.
"Do you hunt here every day?"
"Indeed I do..and I can tell you for a fact that no Nequus has been foolish enough to step foot down here in quite some time. You ought to look elsewhere in my humble opinion"
Came Raizes answer as he blinked large eyes at her from below, sitting on his haunches and curling his tail about his feet.
"Wasting your time here"
"I see"
Etain responded anger clearly seeping through her voice - how dare that worthless beast tell her something so horrible - Etain had a mind to track the ruddy creature down and stomp him into the ground, tear a few holes in those batty wings he had. Wretched Reya!
"a yellow Reya told me a golden Jala was found down here, it seem's he's lied."
she spat with gritted teeth. Oh yes she'd see to this Reya as soon as she hada chance - if only she'd gotten his name.
"Ah..you've been speaking with Eacles then - nasty brute all of us creatures would do well to stay clear of him"
Raize responded with a slight nod - Eacles had once chased him halfway across the plains and the canine had no love for the beast.
Ah well problem solved Etain thought to herself with a nasty grin. Eacles eh - well she'd return for him later - after Diego had been safely found
"Thank you...and never fear Eacles..I'll be back to deal with him..."
Etain stated before turning to fly off - her time at the beach was nearly up if she wanted to meet her siblings at the herd.
