A place to discus the first book in the Southern Vampire Series.

How did you first come to find out about the book?
What was your initial impression of the characters?
How many times have you read it?

I was first introduced to the books in high school. My friend had been reading them and as soon as she finished Dead Until Dark she began telling me how I absolutely had to read it. I've grown up in northern Louisiana and it was nice to have something good to associate home with!

Needless to say I fell in love with the books. I've always been a fan of vampires and this book just made me squee. I loved the idea that Sookie was a telepath and that the vampires had come out of the coffin. I also loved that Charlaine introduced other supernatural creatures besides vampires! I loved that Sookie was just surrounded by all of the supernatural creatures. It gives the book (and the rest of the series) a whole new flavor.

Plus, it doesn't make me feel so bad about being a southern girl! biggrin

I began to read this book after the ending to True blood, season 1. I thought this book was great and ended up spening a bunch of my christmas money on the rest...
I think all the characters were great in this book. The only character I would say I have trouble with is bill. I don't know why I think he is just dull to me.
I've read this book once full, and about the first 50 pages again.
