It was night in the wasteland as a Brotherhood of Steel soldier went down under the ground for his final bout of training. A bunker was set aside for this one last obstacle course before the plunge, when this fine soldier was to be sent out to earn his name in the field. He was issued down a long corridor into the dim illumination, ending up in a small room with a metal door. In front of that door was his tester.

A small framed man of five foot six stood in a full suit of green painted metal armor from his shoulders to his feet. A bandana wrapped around his mouth and nose and a set of fogged googles covered his eyes. His head was completely uncovered, exposing a short full head of dark brown hair that still had dirt caked to it. Once the initiate was close to him he spoke up in a definitive manner.

"I am Squire Rahm. The usual instructor is out at the moment however that will not affect the grading criteria or absoluteness of my assessment."

The young man held up a clipboard and thumbed over a couple of pages.

"Since I was called here on short notice I did not have a chance to go over your files. Why don't you start off by introducing yourself."

Quote:
Objective 1: Character Introduction.

Please introduce your character in a post (minimum one paragraph). In your introduction, please describe any physical traits or mental quirks that your character has, the equipment they wear/use, and anything else you believe should be known about your character. The more descriptive you are, the easier it is for you and others to understand and visualize your character.

With each passing step the initiate took towards the trainer, a metallic noise was heard. Like gears grinding on the floor sorta. It was his spurs, the ones I made from old pieces of metal and had plated onto my Vault Standard boots. They were black, like everyone else back in the vault, but he wore 'em 'cause they were actually quite comfortable. The pants, were like criss-crossed pelts that were tanned and made to fit, they were thick pants though and provided plenty of room. They were simply animal skin pants. He did have a belt however, and the buckle was a mole-rat tooth that had been thoroughly cleaned.
His under shirt was just a white, but dirt stained shirt. But if you looked closely enough, you saw various vault numbers stitched together to make like a collage of numbers. Mainly what looked like 6's and 3's. And the thing outside of the shirt, was a leather jacket similar to the pants. Various pockets filled with brick-a-brack and extra leather, more or less to repair the jacket.
On his waist was a crude pistol holster with a unscoped .44 magnum. On the opposite side of my waist was a plumbers wrench, a red, gristled, painful looking wrench. But tucked away in his various jacket pockets was a pair of impact gloves, ready to brawl and well worn.
Atop his head, was a Straw hat, with dozens of small holes, it was practically falling apart, but at the same time it looked comfortable. He also had a gut, but for someone at 6' foot flat, it wasn't very big. It jiggled but the only reason he had a gut was due to all the food that the Brotherhood was providing him with. He had deep socketed, Crystal blue eyes and almonde lacquer colored hair. He nodded at the instructor and said: "Before you read what they say about me, I'd like you to actually talk and get to know me, but not like that, but while I may be your initiate under training, but I'd appreciate this. If only to feel less formal and like were both human." He said tipping his hat to him and then taking it off to scratch his scalp.

The instructor stopped thumbing through the pages as the recruit spoke, the ruffling sound of the paper ceasing. The young man slowly lifted his head to look at the recruit though the fogged over dirty goggles. He held that position for a couple of seconds examining the soldier and wondering if he was unfortunate enough to have the new guy in his squad.

"No. I'm going to tell you what to do during these exercises and you're going to do them. It's so simple even DeathClaws can do it. Now are you going to introduce yourself properly or should I just leave and inform your squad leader of your failure?"

The instructor finished his words and began scribbling small notes unto the typed out pages before him.

((Don't write in 1st person. Always write in the 3rd person. Otherwise good post.))

((Is that a question for me or for the instructor?))

"Sir with your permission, may I be allowed to reintroduce myself?" He said politely, but with a natural gutteral voice as he did not expect that response.

The instructor held his pen with his pinky and ring finger against his palm as he rubbed his index and middle fingers against his temple. He crack his neck to the left and without straightening it out the shorter man spoke very slowly.

"It would be in both of our best interests if you'd do that recruit. And soon."

He nods, blushing on the inside and exits. Then he quietly reenters and says to him standing in a good stance and saying now in a very serious tone: "Initiate Dylan Smith, good to meet you. Happy to have this opportunity. Now I apologize for my mess up, and I hope to redeem myself." He said now looking at the man directly in the face but not the eyes. "And there honestly is a Death Claw in the ranks?" I ask interested.

((Watch out for that "I asked..."))

"More than one actually."

The instructor stated as he turned and went up to the door. It opened and he ushered the Brotherhood soldier down a short corridor and into another room. Some straw-stuffed, burlap sack dummies stood around on metal poles. One such dummy stood off to the right, three more stood across the room, where a white firing-line was drawn on the ground several meters from them. Weapon lockers and ammo boxes lined the sides of the room where the dummies weren't.

"We will start off with the basics so I may evaluate your skills as you have them now."

The instructor said as he pointed to the lone dummy nearby.

"Strike the dummy."

Quote:
Objective 2: Basic Combat.

Basic Combat is divided into three sections: unarmed/melee combat, firearms, and throwing (usually grenades).

1) Unarmed/Melee Combat.

In another post (minimum three sentences), approach the straw dummy provided, and strike it with either unarmed attacks or a melee weapon (you may use any Initiate ranked unarmed or melee weapon of your choice).

((Now are they cemented into the ground or they surrounded by tires? And does it have a bucket helmet? 'cause that's what I use for scarecrows. ))
He unhooked his wrench from his belt and approached the dummy spinning the wrench in hand then proceeding to take large back legged steps. Circling the dummy, even though he knew it wouldn't strike back, he then RAN! at the dummy. It was a flurry as he ran, and when he made contact with the dummy. Well it was weird.
He had had the wrench held inward in his left arm and put his arm out, like a bar and slammed the dummy in the throat. When the dummy started to tilt, he turned the wrench outward, and began to strike the arms then a few quick glancing strikes to the sides of the bucket skull, and then an overhead smash and the bucket dented in a massive chunk. The entire front concaved inward. "Or would you prefer sir..." He said gaining his composure. "That I strike the opponent in a more..." He span and slammed the dummy square in the chest with an open palm, it made a soft thud but all the straw and various other softeners shot out from the underside. "I do realize this means absolutely nothing on the field of battle, but may aswell put on a good show! Eh? " He said chuckling and walking back

"These are tests. How you decide to complete them is not my concern. I am here as a judging observer."

Rahm stated before he motioned with his hand to bring the recruit over to the firing line. A table sat off to the side with an assortment of small arms. Pistols to hunting rifles adorned the surface of the table.

"Now you will show me your capabilities with a firearm."

Quote:
Firearms.

In your next post (minimum three sentences), approach the firing line, and take aim at any of the three straw dummies provided (you may use any Initiate ranked firearm of your choice; if you choose a basic firearm without the burst feature, you will need to requisition one that does have that feature for the second part of this training exercise). First, fire some single rounds into the dummy(ies) of your choice. After that, you will switch to burst-fire mode and mow down a dummy of your choice.

"Okay fair enough. Your not here to talk." He said going to the table. But realize he realized he had his own weaponry. He draw the revolver, his .44. "Give a fellow a minute." He said then aiming the .44 with his left hand over his right wrist and shot 6 times, twice for each dummy. One in the chest and one in the head, He shot all 6 rounds off in a mere 15 seconds after getting his hand steady. He paused and rested a hand on the table. "Sorry, kinda shaky." He said with his right hand twitching. He slammed it into a fist and then said at him. "Out of both personal and lack of knowledge with fire arms, what guns have a burst setting? Just at a glance." He said knowing at least the rifle did he thought.

"Just grab the Kalashnikov."

The instrutor pointed with his pen to the old AK-47 near the edge of the table. There was a magazine stacked on top of the weapon that apeared to be full. The rifle had a full stock and the wood was chipped out in several places, clearly having served a long and healthy life.

He went over and picked up the rifle, it was a new weight to him. But a comfortable one. Now despite hid lack of knowledge he found the safety relatively quick and the burst fire setting. He took aim at the first dummy and fired. Bullets shredded it in a matter of seconds, namely in the chest section.
Next dummy, the head fell off after being destroyed in the temple section.
And with the final dummy, I intentionally shot it in both arms right at the elbow. The lower arms tore off. "Satisfactory, Sir?" I said not exactly sure.

The Paladin stepped up and handed the recruit a frag grenade, then pointed over his shoulder to the dying dummies.

"Finish them off."

Quote:
Throwing.

In your third post (minimum three sentences) of the Basic Combat training, you will retrieve a grenade of your choice from the nearby ammo box, and throw it at one of the three straw dummies that inhabit the same area that you used your firearm(s) on. Describe the explosion.
