Up around Galea, around the time of the fall of the D'Haran leader, Darken Rahl, three very unusual people people were occasionally spotted by the native countrymen. It was obvious that they were outsiders, that they were not from there, but what no one could figure out was what exactly they wanted. They for the most part kept to themselves, kept out of trouble, so the townspeople that did see them usually paid them no heed.
Because they were such an odd looking bunch, most of the people in the towns that they rarely did visit did not want to approach them. They were, in fact, scared of the odd looking group of travelers.
But that suited the travelers just fine....

Artemis Blackwood sat, his back against a large boulder, feeling the sharp blade of his shortsword dance between his fingers. He was a thief, travelling the Midlands for a special artefact that he was sure not many others knew of. He had journeyed far and had gathered much research, though he knew it was still not enough. The day was beginning to fade; the sky glowed orange across the distant plains and mountains.
Galea sat in the distance, a beautiful city, though nothing to compare to Aydindril, his old home. Somethign caught Arte's eye as he got ready to settled down for the night. Three figures, just black silhouttes against the plaines beneath him, caught his attention. Who were they? They didn't look like any 'normal' travellers, but who was he to challenge 'normal'? Not wishing to let such an oppurtunity to pass him by, Artemis crept between trees and plants as he made his way toward the mysterious figures. He made sure to hide himself...they could trouble.

Lenaya was bored. Ever since she had found the mysterious tunnels that had led her into the midlands. She had met up with 2 other people from the Old World, a wizard, and one very curious person who her magic had absolutely zero affect on. She had given up wondering why or who the person was. Both of her traveling companions were mysteries to her but she didnt care.
She thought that she sensed someone coming closer, but being so close to the huge city a short ways away, she couldn't be sure.
She wondered briefly if it was ok to call her dragon, a pet she had had for many years, since she had found the hatchling injured and alone. She missed her company. The dragon had been her constant companion her entire life.
She snapped her fingers, making the green crackling light that the Dragon had come to know. She glanced at the other two near her but they did not seem to care. they had seen the dragon plenty of times before. She heard the soft beating of huge wings, and extinguished the green light with another snap. The half blue, half green dragon landed behind her. She kept her back to her, a game they had played since they were both young.
The dragon snorted quietly out of her nose, sending a small shock of blue lightning into the air. Lenaya ignored her with a small smile on her lips. The dragon nudged her gently with its head. Lenaya's smile grew a little. The dragon growled. Lenaya whirled around, a purple glow forming around her hands. The dragon snapped its jaws again, sending another bolt of blue lightning into the air. The purple glow brightened and she sent a small streak of it straight into the ground at her feet. A small column of dirt rose surrounding the dragons head. The dragon whimpered and fell flat on her stomach on the ground, rolling over so her feet and tail stuck straight up in the air.
Lenaya laughed and the dragon swung back over into its feet tossing her head with glee. Lenaya rubbed the dragons nose, laughing even more at the pleased expression on the dragons face.
Ok girl! settle down! its time for bed. She murmured softly to the dragon. She pulled out her bedroll while the dragon curled up a little ways away on the ground. Lenaya shook out her blanket and lay down next to the dragons head.

Valence ShadeValence walked beside his two allies. All senses were on alert, for they were nearing the town. It would be useful to employ the witch before him to his own causes, which was a core value to the Imperial mindset. She was evil at heart, just like his other ally, but the evil at core could be righted via a lifetime of servitude to the cause. He thought he noticed some signs of dismay within the witch, which caused his eyes to flicker across the natural landscapes faster and more decisive. His black dagger was out before the green evil peirced the air, obvious sign of anti-air measures. A creature came just after the magics were summoned, the most apparent of targets. Valence was croiuched in a position ready to dodge of lunge when he finally saw the usual immaturities of the girl and her pet. He smoothly exited his defensive stance, no bashfulness in existance, and waited for the theatrics to be over. "Are you sure? There's still plenty of ground to cover. I don't see anything being acomplished by our resting." he stated, wondering why the black-and-green haired witch decided to rest so early; perhaps the beings had less stamina than himself. (( I find it hard to find how they should interact. Where have they met and why did they decide to band together? No ill feelings, just trying to fill in the blanks))

it's dark Lenaya replied curtly. most NORMAL people stop traveling when it gets dark. I do not see the benefit of trying to go into the city while its dark out. we would be better off checking everything out tomorrow. I dont know hardly anything about you becasue you refuse to tell me. I do know that you are on some super secret mission for someone. Why jeopardize your mission by walking into things you cannot see? That does not seem smart to me, but do what you will. If you want to go down there tonight that is fine with me, but normally we have stopped when it gets dark. If you want me to send her away and go into the city i will. It is up to you. Im just along for the ride.
Dont got anything better to do. She rolled her eyes as she mumbled the last line to herself.

Valence took in the female's words, disregarding her sharp tone. It was true that the night would diminish their sight somewhat, perhaps more in her untrained senses, but that could be said for their targets as well. However, they would first have to locate their mark, then decide the best way of procuring then terminating it. Stirring chaos into this sinful land was their main objective, but each target could give them valuble insight to hasten the destruction.
"Your reasoning is sound enough. A few hours respite could provide with some benefit. Keep your dragon, if you wish, so long as it doesn't compromise our surreption" Valence said, easy to find himself in an authoritative position with the rouge-witch. She was definately not one to become cross with, though her talents would be wasted on himself, as well as a waste of her life. Her dragon would also be weaker against him, but large claws and muscles could rip him as easy as anyone else.
Valence walked a small distance to a small clearing in the forest they were traveling through prior to tossing down his pack. The skies contained no threat, so a form of shelter was an unimportant luxury. He sat down, taking a breif scan of the area, as he waited for his other companions settled in. They were both of the evil that waranted caution.

She is well trained. you should have been around her often enough to know that she will not compromise you or your mission. And she will be gone by the time we go into the city tomorrow. She felt the tension from him, and noted his caution towards her with a smile.
He was not going to tell her about himself, so she was not going to reveal information about herself to him.
She knew he had magic but she did not know entirely how powerful he was in comparison to herself. She had had to formal training with her magic, just what she had been able to teach and learn herself. She did not want to make him angry, fearing that it would be a battle she would lose. For now, she was content to just follow him as long as it suited her purposes.
She also hoped to gain a little more insight into magic and maybe expand her abilities even more. She had the potential to be a rather fearsome sorceress, but she had to learn more about what she might possibly be able to do first. He knew more than she did, therefore it was natural for her to watch, listen and learn. She would leave when she wanted to, if she wanted to. She liked causing mayhem and so far, he seemed to be doing just that.

Atremis hopped over a stump, and carried onward through the trees. There was a magical flickering going on down there. Either that or his eyes were playing tricks on him. Nearing closer though, he threw himself behind the large trunk of an ancient tree. Was that a Gar? What human would think it smart to travel with a Gar as a companion? No, he couldn't remember a Gar breathing what that creature had. It could only be...a dragon!
He crouched low to the ground in attempts to get closer to the mysterious travelers as they settled down for the night. He couldn't tell clearly what it was they were saying, but the underlying tone proved that they were having a minor spat.
He eased up against a shrub, hiding himself as best he could. As a thief, he had approached many in such a manner. Surely, these three would be no different. Though, he had never seen a dragon. Especially one travelling with humans.

The dragon snorted. Lenaya bolted upright. She had been right earlier. Someone WAS coming. Her eyes scanned the surrounding area, while her magic honed in on the approaching person. He was hiding, shielding himself behind rocks and trees.

Artemis heard a shuffling beyond the shrub. He lowered his breathing, and kept as still as possible. He couldn't hear their voices any longer. Swallowing, he wondered if they had sensed his presence.

Jade! Lenaya whispered quietly to the dragon. Go! The dragon took off with a whoosh of its powerful wings. As it rose into the air it let out a screech, almost like that of a hawk as it hovered over the nearby hillside. There was definately something there. Lenaya moved her hand to the side, alomst like she was gesturing the dragon away. The dragon rose higher into the air and was soon out of sight amongst the trees.

Damn! Artemis grabbed at his belt and withdrew the shortsword. He dug at the ground with his elbows as he did his best to flee the scene before anyone actually saw him. He could hear the dragon's screech high above him, echoing out into the plaines beyond. As logn as it didn't come near him, he would be fine. He had never met a dragon before, much lss wrestled with one.
His thougths were broken as he heard a crash in the trees above him. The dragon dove towards him and he scrambled to his feet just in time to throw himself to the side before the beast snapped at him. He tripped among the overgrown roots, but managed to pull himself up. These weren't ordinary folk. That was for sure.

Lenaya threw up her hands as the purple glow began to form. She threw the purple glow in the direction of the hillside. Although she could not see what was there, with magic she could sense where jade was and where the intruder was. The purple glow of magic slammed into the hillside, lifting a tower of dirt and showering it down around the intruder. She was not aiming to kill, just startle him enough that jade could grab him and bring him to her. they had to know who he was. he was obviously skilled at both tracking and being in the forest. Yah, well so am i! She thought to herself. She extinguished the purple glow of magic and dashed up the hil, hiding herself behind trees, and stepping lightly through the forest floor so as not to make any sound. About halfway up the hill, she spotted him, sprawled on his stomach on the ground.

The night was gathering around him, the trees began merging in with the fading light. Arte groaned as he looked around once again. The dragon had been quite for a moment. He couldn't tell which direction it had gone, or if it was coming back.
A blast beside him shattered the earth, sending dirt up into the sky to fall like rain. He tumbled to the side, landing on his stomach. He coughed, having the wind knocked out of him.
He gripped his shortsowrd in his palm and made an attempt to get up. A screech erupted behind him and before he could prepare himself, the dragon landed against his back, pinning him to the forest floor. He turned his head to the side. A dark tree was moving toward him. No, it was a person.
He growled beneath the dragon. "If you come any closer...I'll...I'll kill you!"

Valence ShadeValence fluidly transfered to a defensive position as the dragon affirmed a ruffling he'd heard only seconds prior. The stealthy entity quickly noted its blown cover and took flight, just after Jade did the same in a more literal sense. The intruder was not to be tollerated, for their surreptition was of paramount importance. Trees and other greenery flashed past him in a blur, his silent strides takig him faster than his eyes could compute. Suddenly, the earth before him exploded, as a magic force blasted it away. He quickly crouched as the earthy rain assaulted him, though doing little damage. As the dirt dissipated, Valence found behind a dragon and its prey. He'd attempted to go around the earthy fog for a surprise attack, and was near fruition. "That might not be a good idea." Valence said, hs midnight dagger close to the dragon's victim's throat.
