I found a very interesting theory the other day regarding Rowena Ravenclaw, and have come across a few plausible speculations on what item of hers may have been acquired by Lord Voldemort for his Horcrux. I was quite surprised that there wasn't any place to discuss the Founders, so I asked to make one; here it is!

I'm also quite fascinated because I consider myself a Ravenclaw, and we know Far less about Rowena than any other founder. Professor Flitwick is the ONLY adult in the HP universe who we can even positively identify as an alumnus of that house.

And, it was only a few months ago that Jo promised us that Ravenclaw "will get their day, if you know what I mean!"

The Sorting Hat Says

Philosopher's Stone / Sorceror's Stone
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a steady mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind

Goblet of Fire
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen
....
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best

Order of the Phoenix
For were there such friends anywhere
....
Unless it was the second pair
Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw,
....
Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose
Intelligence is surest"
....
And only those of sharpest mind
Were taught by Ravenclaw.

Ravenclaw House
Probably the best characterization of House mentalities ever:
On Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw (or, Ruminations on a Hat)

A defense against Fan Fiction's perceived ill-use of Ravenclaws:
Characterization Cliches: Ravenclaw

Rowena Ravenclaw Facts
Just the basics; it's alarming how little we know about her:
According to Mugglenet

From the Lexicon, includes a list of all known Ravenclaw students, past and present:

Rowena Ravenclaw Speculation
Very convincing argument for why Voldemort would desirE to tranform this particular item into a Horcrux, if on slightly shakier ground justifying Rowena's connection to it:
The Mirror of Erised: A Horcrux?

I disagree with the identification of the supposed Horcrux that this essay proposes, but there is some very solid new evidence raised that makes this worth reading:
The Ravenclaw Horcrux

Wow, no one's biting on Rowena, huh?

well, here's something....do you think that Riddle succeeded in obtaining a Ravenclaw artifact? And if so, did he manage to properly Horcrux it?

I'd have to shrug on this one. Rowena is a pretty misty character (infact, all of the founders are) and we barely know anything about her (as shown in the MuggleNet page).

We also can't base assumptions on what she had and she didn't have just because she was smart - I mean, look at Slytherin. Who would've thought he had a locket?! 0.o

But I guess we could guess. A cup, a locket, a sword, >>> what would Rowena have had? Is there any myth anywhere that had four Objects of power or something? Or maybe, they symbolize something - A cup symbolizes the Holy Grail, or something like that. A sword symbolizes bravery, of course. A locket may symbolize secrets, because it opens and inside is a secret...?

Huh.

that's been knocked around mugglenet a bit recently; theorists there cite the rush he'd have gotten seeing himself immortal and all-powerful in its surface as additional leverage.
