I recently downloaded the mother 3 translation, and I'm about halfway through the game (or so it seems).
Anyway, I love it; one of the best RPGs I've ever played.
But I've never played Earthbound, and since Mother 3 is a sequel, I'd imagine Mother 3 to be better.
Should I try Earthbound anyway?

Mother 3 was made 12 years after Earthbound, so it's definitely better in a technical sense and allowed more to happen in the game.
I personally enjoyed Earthbound the most, though, but all three games in the series are awesome. You should give Earthbound a try (honestly, playing Earthbound and Mother before Mother 3 made some things in Mother 3 that much more special).

I find Mother 3 a little more serious (especially in the beginning of the game OMG ) but both games are equally awesome in my opinion xd

You should definitely play Earthbound. Personally I think it was the best game ever created. However I have never played Mother 3. So I am in the same situation. I want to play Mother 3 smile

Mother 3 had lots of drama going on. [[ Like, whoa. ]]
It was shorter and more easier since like someone said
it didn't have much dungeon-like places.
EarthBound was pretty long and a bit more
challenging to me since there were
times where u had to go through lots
of twists and turns to find certain
things and such. It was funny at times,
but not alot of drama going on like Mother 3.
But I liked both of them in the end.
