I'm not talking about the quality of their material, but the quality of the actual books. For example, I recently baught Trinity Blood 10 and Petshop of Horrors: Tokyo 4. At first both books seemed lighter/thinner, but seemed to have the same number of pages. Being slightly thinner isn't what bothers me. The books also seem to be a lot more loosely bound, which upsets me a little because I'm a major binding freak and don't want them to fall apart. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just freaking out.

Of course! I noticed! Their quality went down and so did Tokyopop itself. First of, the high prices should be reasoned by a good quality. Which isn't even mediocre >.> Also I'm a binding freak too and it upsets me to see a brand new book ready to fall apart. Then the releases. Ok Fruits Basket was always on time. After like four or three months they would translate and release it but what about the other manga, unknown to the world? For a manga i like, i hadnt had an update for what? A YEAR? And they havent dropped it yet like they did to other manga by the way... sorry for ranting like this. But i'm very disappointed.

Oh trust me, you're not the only one freaking out. Because yes, not only did Tokyopop raise the price, they lowered the friggin' quality of their manga too. Not to mention that, companies like Yen Press and DelRey have always charged 10.99 per book and not only are they a better quality, but they haven't changed it either. So that leads me to believe that Tokyopop is just getting plain desperate now.
Needless to say, I won't be starting very many new series of theirs. Not if it's going to cost me 11$ for what is essentially, newsprint with school glue to hold it together. neutral

[ ][.Profusion of Pink.] - - i can't really complain. i mean, in canada, tokyopop's manga is priced very averagely. [viz's manga is cheapest, and del rey the most expensive, at 16.95$ a volume]. i don't buy too much of tokyopop's manga anyway. just loveless.
sucks at lowering quality, though. that's just lame.
