Now all of you know that the two new Halo Games, ODST and Reach, are coming out soon. ODST later this year and Reach next year. But, with all this anticipation, there was an annoucment that really shocked me. Halo: Reach wil be Bungie's LAST Halo game. Now I don't about you, but I think that is proposterus. But if you think differently, post your questions, theorys and angry rants here.

Bungie has had a great run with the Halo franchise. They lose nothing by letting it go now. And even without new Halo games, the Haloverse will continue to be expanded upon through other media. (Anime, books, etc) ..though, just because Bungie drops the series, doesn't mean another developer won't pick it up to continue milking it.
Anyways, with Bungie readying a new IP and looking for a publisher, I'm excited. I have no doubt that it will be another masterpiece. 3nodding

Halo 3 was never stated to be the last Halo title made by Bungie. They're under contract to make two more. (ODST and Reach fulfill this contract)
After that, Microsoft has the rights to Halo, to do with it as they please. I can see Microsoft taking it further, milking the Halo cash-cow for all it's worth, running the series into the ground. rolleyes

I agree, they are going to do what 4-kids does with anime. I just hope we get games like Ninja Blade or Fracture And I know neither of those were made by Microsoft, but you know what i mean.

They make way too much money to stop. Even though Bungie keeps fans in mind and stays true to their story, buisness sence says keep making titles with "Halo in the name, or a spartan on a cover. Like A regular nintendo game is worth 20 dollars more just because Mario is on the cover. Sonic is long gone from his hay-day but its pretty much what keeps sega alive.

I know they've said that before about the games but I don't think it's just the money that brings them back to it. Just like when someone retires from a career they actually enjoyed, they realize how much they miss it and return back to it.
This isn't just a bunch of games with the halo title, this is a universe. They've nurtured the storyline and built it from the ground up. As long as the games stay canon, they can make as many as they like and I'll be there in line waiting for 'em.

Bungie may not be making any more Halo games, but there is a new studio who will be 343 Industries lead by Frank O'Connor. Here is an interview: Here
