I was in warm-ups, and drilling disengages, and my coach kept telling me I was doing them wrong... any idea as to what he was talking about?

I'd really have to see it to know, but it is most likely that you are moving your entire arm instead of just a little bit of your wrist in order to make the disengage. If you move your entire arm it takes to much time and is far to noticeable to catch an experienced opponent off guard, which is the entire point of a disengage.
