Chapter I ~ First day

“Hey, Bah man!”
I turned. Whenever I was called Bah it just irritated me. “What do you want Zahur?”
“Sorry, Bah” My friend apologized. Obviously not meaning it.
“Stop calling me that!” I demanded.
“Fine! Whatever you want Bahvesh!” Zahur threw his backpack into his new locker. “It’s the first day at school! As of today, we are seniors!”
Great, the last thing I wanted was to spend my senior year here in this hell hole of a town.
“Yo, are you there?”
“Huh?”
“OK, so what you get for classes?”
I looked to my schedule. Just a few classes I failed in my previous years here in school. “Same as last year.” I gathered some books from the back of my locker.
“That sucks, but at least you don’t have to take algebra” He scratched at his studded chin thoughtfully.
“Are you serious?” Only he would fail Algebra all throughout high school.
“Yeah, when was the last time you have ever even seen me awake in a mathematics class?” He smirked, shoving his already filled locker closed.
“If you didn’t stay awake in the first grade, then I’m guessing you wouldn’t stay awake now.” He never did like school much, he didn’t even like to chase after girls. As long as he had money in his pocket and something to eat, I think he’d be set for life. By third grade, we had become best friends, but before that, I had thought his family was a group of cannibals. But it turned out that they just enjoyed to eat.
“Hey look at that! We have Biology together!” Zahur smiled at both of our schedules.
“Really? That’s cool. We haven’t had a class together since our Freshman year.”
“Hey! Hey lady! Hey!” a voice screamed from down the hall.
“I don’t give a **** if you’re only a parent trying to register your kid!” I looked down the hall to see a brown haired girl who had green highlights yelling at a parent. She then turned and stormed our way. “Hey you!” She pointed at my face. “What’s your name?”
“Bahvesh” I was confused.
“Veshy! Where can I find this class?” She shoved her school schedule into my hands, then pointed to the first printed class.
“Room eighty-five the art room” I said. How strange. “We have the same classes.”
“We do?” She sounded relieved.
The bell rung with a small tune you’d expect from an ice cream truck.
“Hey, man, I have to go, my goal for this year is to get no detentions” Zahur said as he dashed down the hall.
“Your name's Alayla?” I asked the girl.
“Alayla says hi.” She said with a grin.
“What?”
“I said 'hi'. Duh!”
“Oh, ok well w-”
“I’m not crazy!” Alayla screamed into the air. She then looked around as if she expect someone to be pointing and laughing like a lunatic at her. “Who said that?” She demanded me to answer.
“I didn’t say anything.” What a strange girl.
“Oh, you didn’t?” She relaxed. “OK, so let's go to class, Jimmy.”
“It’s Bahvesh,” I corrected her “and sure, let's go to class.” I turned and started to walk to class. Alayla smiled happily and trotted next to me - literally trotted. And that’s when I noticed. This girl just made this hell hole a lot better.
