I forgot how to find the coordinates of a vertex. It sucks.

y= |x - 4| - 3

I forgot the formula. I tried to simplify it and got:

y = x + 1

But, that looks more like a linear eqauation. So, wtf?

For those sorts of equations, the vertex will always be where the absolute value is zero, because that's where absolute value changes its behavior (from switching sign to keeping it). In other words, |x - 4| = 0 → x = 4 → y = -3. Thus, the vertex is at (4,-3).
