I figured we could use a thread where we discuss the episodes and such. I hope our fearless leader doesn't find this... bad (for lack of a better word sweatdrop ). If she doesn't like it, it's as simple as closing it or whatever. She did say that she planned to start one, so I suppose I just saved her some effort. That's got to count for something... right? Anyway, enough about that, let's talk about episodes. I'll get the ball rolling.

What was the episode that truly defined FMA as great for you? For me, it was episode seven "The Night the Chimera Cries". Never before has an anime made me truly hate someone. Someone who's last name begins with a "T", ends with "ucker" and is Tucker. After it was confirmed about what happened to his wife, daughter, and dog (poor Nina and Alexander! I was this close to tears *shows fingers close together*.). I truly hated that man afterwards. Also, the episode introduced Scar. I don't know about anybody else, but I like him as a character. He did something for which I am forever grateful. He killed the Brigadier General. I hated Gran with a burning passion that consumed my soul. He was just such an a*****e. Anyway, for me, episode seven was the defining episode of the series.

I'll keep this topic here for now and see how it goes. No one seems to be posting much anyway.

Sometime during the first two episodes, I realized that FMA was a show that I needed to watch. It takes guts to start off a show with a blatant anti-religious message, but it was an indicator that FMA was going to go in a very interesting direction. There was more symbolism and depth in the first two episode of FMA than most shows have throughout an antire 26+ episodes. That a lone told me that FMA was going to be an amazing show.

Unfortunately, I had most of the important plot points spolied, which took a lot of the shock away. I can't point out a specific episode as the point where FMA became my favorite show, because almost every episode was incredible. Even the filler eps are great and that says a lot.

I have to agree that every episode of FMA is great. I also agree completely on the anti-religious themes, even though religion played an important role to the Ishbal people, and the story involving Scar. Fortunately for me, I discovered FMA before I knew anyone else I knew watched it, and didn't have anything spoiled for me until I was in the 30's.

Well, I'm new, so hi. ^^; lol

I watched a few episodes.. But I didn't really start watching until I was forced to. sweatdrop After episode 7, the chimera one.. I was hooked. That was so sad. crying I'm trying to get my friends into FMA and I keep telling them, "Wait til you get to episode 7!" I couldn't believe someone could do something like that. No one spoiled it for me, so I kept guessing what happened. man... And by that time they revealed most of Ed and Al's story so I ended up watching up to episode 30 or something in one day. whee Partially because it was licensed and I rushed to get episodes. sweatdrop But I'm glad I did. ^^ The Philosopher Stone ordeal has got me glued to my computer. @_@ I wish I could see the newer ones... But.. yeah. x_x

I have to agree "The Night The Chimera Cries" was a real good episode.

I too was on the erge of tears when Nina was killed.

Like JewelRay, the science vs. religion theme it throws at you really draws you in as well.

I really enjoy that it hasn't thrown many fillers episodes at you and sticks to it story. ^-^

So far I have currently stopped on episode 34,(though to school + girl + going out, etc) so I would appreciate if anyone who discusses eps 35 and up, could put a spoiler warning. 3nodding

I was first attracted to the series because of the great bond the two brothers have, they have a very beautiful relationship! "The older one lives for the younger and the younger lives for the older" as said by Scar in ep 42! xd But many things about this series have kept me hooked! The fun in trying to figure out all of the homonculus before they were revealed, how others were/are related to them (Lyra, Hohenheim)..

Its just such a great series and I can't believe its almost over!! gonk crying

The very first time I saw FMA was episode 7, at one of the anime screenings at my college. They showed one episode of FMA along with one episode of a bunch of other shows (like they usually do), but FMA was the one that I said to myself, "Okay, when we get home, we're looking for that show, pronto."

And it just kinda went from there. The emotional weight that episode 7 really just... sucked me right into the series. I went back and watched episodes 1-6, and then... ahh, episode 8, another one of my favorites. I liked episode 8 for one main reason:

Ed ACTED HIS AGE.

Instead of being brave like someone twice his age, he reacted like a kid would in that situation -- get REALLY forking scared and run away! Time and time again, the show has given the characters more life just by having them act in-character, rather than what seems the most 'noble' (that take, IMO, flaws a lot of other shows).

I love the animation style, I love the character designs, I love the story, I love the setting, I love character portrayals, I love the long cast list of diverse and interesting, 3D characters... and I adore the plot twists. This show has surprised me in many, MANY different ways, and I never seem to see what, exactly is coming... I have only ever been able to guess, and much of the time, I end up being wrong. whee Which is, in my opinion, good! I like a show that's unpredictable.

Luckily, I've made it up to this point with just about NO spoilers... when I went on a FMA spree, I got up to around the 30s before I caught up with Japan, but hadn't joined any communities or anything else, so there was no spoiler risk. Yay!

Well, that about does it for me. I just think FMA is an all-around good show. 3nodding

Heh.... testing something

this is a test, in case I want to say something that requires a spoiler only certain can read it if they wanted to

Anyways.. favorites eps.. 13 "Flame verus Steel" XP. For a more plot depth one, 22. And 41/42 for it's many surprises eek . 7 was good.. Even though it was cruel and depressing, I didn't think it was THAT bad

I didn't really get hook until Scar shows up (14-15-ish, even tho he made an appearence around 7). Before then I was just really interested in it. Then my obession fade around 28-31, then I got hooked again after 34 XP (I think it was 34, I forgot)

I haven't seen alot of the actual anime, but I have read up to chapter 27 of the manga. Right off the bat, I knew I would love this series, it's kind of hard not to, after that first storyline. And I think, after Ed, at that point of the series, my favorite character was Gluttony. XD "Can I eat it?"

Um, I guess it was Episode 7 that really got me. It was just so sad. And I hadn't pieced it together before then! I'm really mad at myself, and I call myself a CSI and Detective Conan fan!

I'm not in this guild yet (at least I dont think soo) but this is public, so I mine as well! [Dont think there should be any spoilers here...either than the few first episode things...) I get really emotionaly really easy, and I watched them at night, so when I watched episode 7, it really pushed my tears out, and I couldnt sleep well...Of course, everything that is sad usually makes me sad, but seriously....what kind of man...would do such a thing? The thing I didnt understand...was how Ed culd hate his father soo much...it is really sad...and how there mother died....and I think they took it pretty good in the beginning, bu then kinda got disruptive and tried to create human transmutation...even IF it was forbidden...

I really liked the idea of the philosopher stone..and there goal to return to there regular human body selves! And how Ishbal and the Military hate each other soo much....why can they not just...say PEACE !?!?!!? It kind of reminds me of Gundam Seed, how Zaft, the Blue Crismos and Archangel fought and fought...and got very serious in fighting... and I hated that idea that friends fought friends....wahhhh, but anyways, I'm kinda getting off of subject here, so back to FMA!!

Everytime we would watch FMA starting at like, 11 pm or somethin, we would usually watch 3 eps, but then it was sooo cliffhangy or stuff like that, we just HAD to watch lots more, which would bring us around 2 am or something...

Especially the long waits we had to wait, for getting the actual eps, it took FOREVER!!! Since I'm on ep 43, it is a pretty big cliffhanger, so it just made me super mad, just to StoP there... but I guess i'm just gonna haveta wait, ne? 3nodding

I think Shisen's the one that has the subs coming up still. Spoon hasn't caught up yet. But I can't remember what episode it was when I was trapped into FMA. Sometime before episode 16 because that was when I went out to hunt them down for myself instead of waiting for my friend to bring them to me. sweatdrop But 13 and 37 were definitely good for laughs. *nods* And I never really did like any of the episodes where important characters died... TT-TT Not cool at all...

Shisen? Where do you find them? I would like nothing more than to get them ASAP, unless they're done by Sonchou. I'll pass on them thank you very much.
