First there's the blitzball game, there was at least two or three fights that took place under water, I'm just trying to figure out how they could be under water for so long! Do they have gills or something?! scream

No. I believe they hold their breath. And there was this one scene where someone mentioned that some blitzball players could actually sleep underweater too. They're just really trained.

So almost all of gaia knows how to hold their breath for a long period of time. I don't believe that, I could believe the blitzball players but not other people. Yuna, Auron, Lulu and the rest aren't blitzball players, how could they hold their breath. But then again this is Final Fantasy so...I guess anything is possible rolleyes

First of all, Spira, not Gaia. smile

But yes, that's why he said they have to train for it. You know how you can only use Tidus, Wakka, and Rikku in underwater battles? It's because they're the only ones who can do it: The Blitz players and the Al Bhed who goes on deep sea salvages all the time.

Well hold on now Raven,
If we wanted to follow the hypothesis that:
"Spira = FF7's distant past"
from the statements Shinra makes about the planet's engergy and refining it/ materia via dresspheres....
Then Spira would be Gaia.

As FF7's world is named Gaia. Here's my citation from an Advent Children E3 Handout years ago.
User Image
It clearly states that the world is called Gaia, and, as my previous train of thought dictates, that would be Spira's name as well.

Consider your mind blown! xd

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks

Istanbul (Istanbul)
Istanbul (Istanbul)

blaugh

(And if you want to be really technical, if was Byzantium before that.)

That song...it only...reminded me of this. ._.
I loved that show. T _ T

(Looking up the vid led me to find out the song was sung by They might be Giants! I love those guys!)

((I have apparently mixed this thread with the youtube thread >,>))

Bad Kazuma! No thread mixing! *totally didn't start it*

But see, it's nobody's business but the Turks' why Gaia was once Spira.

Of course! How could I have been so blind?!
The Turks were created by Shinra to abolish all remenents of Spira. Only the Turks truly know Gaia's past; which is why *mumbles off into a long, deep, discussion*.....and the uncharted island that had 'Knights of the Round' was once Besaid!!

Thank you Raven. My eyes are open now.

And if capturing Aerith is part of their mission...

Were the Cetra actually one of the races from X? Was it not really Jenova that wiped them all out, but the Turks, as the only certain means of silencing them? If not, where else could they have gone?

Of course, that begs the question of which race they were... Judging by appearances, the most obvious choice would be Al Bhed. Aerith does even have green eyes... However, we have no real proof that Ifalna was 100% Cetra, so we cannot be sure they did look entirely human. Our best bet then, is Jenova itself! Jenova did, of course, impersonate the Cetra to get close to them... however, when we take a look, it does not appear to be a very good impersonation if they did look human. Rather, it looks to be more... guado.

In fact, guado would make a lot of sense... The Lifesteam is analagous to the Farplane, and who were the keepers of the Farplane but the guado themselves? They even have the ability to sense the unsent... It sounds rather like the Cetra's connection to the Lifestream. Coincidence?!

...I should probably just shut up and disown myself right about now.

i think i can explain it in another way, tidus wakka and rikku were made (by the accusing eyes of their comrades) to do the underwater missions because,
1) its too "dangerous" for yuna
2) who the hells gonna make sir auron
3) who the hells gonna make kimahri
and finally..well, lulu wouldnt want to get her hair wet biggrin , plus its very impracticale to swim in a dress biggrin

Lol, I recently heard of water made of different hydrogen basis. Anywho, this water his made up of enough oxygen allowing you to breath in it! o.o

The world of Spira is SOOOO far in the future... Perhaps they already have this tested water shipped out everywhere? O_o

I doubt that's the cause but hey... We're open to all Ideas right? razz
