Hey everyone! I thought about trying something for a little bit of fun. Each day, I will place up a problem. It will most likely go up in the morning unless the previous problem has yet to be solved. It could be an equation, puzzle, riddle, anything. First to solve it correctly will be rewarded with a little bit of gold. (Probably like 100 gold. exclaim )
I know it isn't much but these are just to have people have more fun in the guild. (That and I couldn't think of anything else to do. stressed )
I can also take a problem someone would like to have posted for a day if you want to try and stump our guildmates. (Though you can't participate in your own problem since you know the answer already. xp )
With this said, let the torture...I mean fun, begin. lol

Today's problem is a Hitori. One of my favorite puzzles. A Hitori is a neat little puzzle game where you solve it by crossing out duplicates. The rules are as followed:
1. You have to eliminate until there are no duplicates in any row/column. 2. You eliminate numbers by marking them in black. (For on gaia, it will be by bolding the number as well as striking it out. Like this: ( Number ) 3. You cannot have two black'd out numbers touching horizontally or vertically. Diagonal is ok. 4. You cannot black out numbers in such a way where a nonblack'd out number is isolated from the rest of the board.
An example of a solved Hitori (5x5):
11152 15413 33145 12431 24511
Problem #1 Hitori (7x7)
4652475 7635126 3224267 5266442 7527641 6277365 2741153

Today's Problem is a Patchword. With Patchwords, you use the two letter pieces to form words in the section provided. Any conjoining pieces must form a word horizontally and vertically. The words must be valid english words. If a two letter piece is horizontal, it can only go into the horizontal spaces marked in red.
(Sorry if it looks a little weird. I can't make blocks on gaia so I have to improvise. The red two letter pieces can only go in the red blanks which are horizontal. The vertical ones can go in any of the vertical spaces. the vertical ones are marked in various colors. )
----_ ----- ----- _----
An example Patchword (9 tile): MA
DE
ST
RD
M A
A W
A T
E A
R Y
Solution to Patchword (9 tile): MAMA_ AWARD DETER _STAY
Problem #2 Patchword (9 tile):
----_ ----- ----- _----
ES
CL
TR
OM
T E
H E
A R
T I
D O

*Pulls out a pencil and blank paper and begins writing for 30 min, often going deep in throught and staring at the letters as if to scare them into the right order. After awhile he sighs angrily, crumples the paper, and tosses it away from him..."
Well I give up... I'm guessing CL and TR have to be in one of the bottom two cause I can't think of any word ending in CL/TR. By the way, what does Awes, Matt, and Deter mean?

Deter means to impede or stop someone or something, from for example going the way they are going, in a frightening way. As in, "She would not be deterred by threats."
As for awes, "standing in awe of something"
As for matt, I dont know other than the name.
At any rate...*pops his knuckles as he sets forth on the challenge*
I believe I got it.
ATOM_ RIDES CLOTH _TREE
Horizontally-
Atom Rides Cloth Tree
Vertical-
Arc Tilt Odor Mete, as in "mete out punishment" She
Well I'm feeling a little rejuvenated after that. Time to work on my 4x4 grid Sudoku again. 1-9 can be bad enough at times, but 1-16 is just evil.

To put things into a better perspective for you. I work these puzzles myself before putting them up. The sample and the actual problem.
On the patchword sample when I finished it on the site, it said it was correct so I didn't put much thought to the wierd words. sweatdrop

Though I haven't been on as of late, I praise your creative idea. Perhaps I will be able to solve one before others do in the future.

Today's Problem is a riddle in a literal sense I think. Sorry, short on time today so I can't do a big one like I was planning on. I might do it tomorrow.
Problem #3
Can you find a word that means perimeter and by adding a letter A into the word, another word is created that means a lodger?
