Rank Descriptions

Alpha - This is the highest ranking male (and on rare occasion female) of the troop. He/She is responsible for the safety of everyone, their territory, and making day to day decisions. Only the alpha can declare war on another Troop, or outcast an offending member of his/her own. (1)

Nalani - This group consists of the leaders of all profession groups. Each role class has one person heading it. It is this person who ranks 2nd under the alpha, offering advice and has the ability to deal justice to lower offenders when needed. (3)

Hahai - This is a profession class, containing all of those who have dedicated themselves to gathering fish and other edibles from the ocean and surrounding forest. Their main job is to get it and bring it back.

Kamu - Teachers. There only a few in this role. They teach and pass information and lessons on to both the young and old alike. It is their mission in life to know as much as possible about the world around them, and offer that very knowledge to others. Acting as almost nannies to the young, they take on students until mid to late adolescence. And adults wishing to seek wisdom or knowledge about something in particular often seek them for advice. Due to their role, any of the Kamu station may hunt only at their leisure. Their contribution to the troop is through knowledge.

Malama - This group is generally made up of both sexes. They tend to new pods, care for young when needed, store/dry fish for later, and work to guard the Troops lands. It is to them a young Bow'Mi would turn to to learn more about hand-to-hand combat or using one's surroundings to defend.

Others - All others of the Troop hold no rank. This includes all young and those who have chosen no profession. Adults with no job rank often find themselves with the scraps of what others leave behind, as they hold no value to the Troop as a whole. Denoted as a ./.
