Kanon's Guide To Making Patches

Here is where you learn about making patches.
You start out with a good program, I use GIMP but you can use photoshop too.
You make the width and heigth both 50 x 50.
If you have a customized profile then you probably want to use an element from the profile.
Such as a part of a texture that was used within the profile or a person/animal/object that was used also.
I used a texture that was used within my profile.
I suggest you use an element from your profile so that people will recognize you better! <333

I create borders around my patches.
Like the one shown above.
Many other artists use that element too.
It gives the image texture and feel.
It makes the patch not look like you just through some random picture on there.
It makes it organized. (you get what I mean right?)
xDDD

The next step is editing the image.
I brightened my patch and changed the colors very slightly.
I made it look less plain and boring.
This comes in handy when making a patch.

Then comes text.
You see, I didn't put text in my patch.
When you have a patch thats crowded with different colors the color of text will blend too much into the colors of the image.
Like mine would.
This is when the border comes in.
You see, the border holds the patch in place even without text.
It makes the patch look busy enough to where the text isn't needed.
If you DO want to put text, I suggest you make it a similar color to the image but darker or lighter enough to where it doesn't blend in with it.
Say you have a blue image in the back, you could use pinks and greens.

Once you are done finding the right image, creating the border, and putting in whatever text you think would work, its time for you to code it!

In image hosting websites such as imageshack or photobucket they automatically put [-i-m-g] [-/-i-m-g-] before and after the image's code.
So you don't have to worry about things like that!

To make an image clickable, all you do is put [-u-r-l-= first (without the -). Then you put the address.
Meaning, where you want the image to link to.
Say you want it to link to your profile, put the address of the profile (found at the top of the page) and copy and paste it after the [-u-r-l-=.
Make sure you don't put a space bettern the = and the address.
After you put in the address, put ] after it.
Then, put the image code.
Afetr the image code, put in [-/-u-r-l-].
Be sure to check if you accidentally made any mistakes. ^^

And there you go! Your own patch.
I hope you found this guide useful! Domo! (thanks!)
