Japanese
____________

This is where the beginner lessons will be! So if you are just begining japanese then this is where you should be!

The following lessons do come from a legitamate japanese language book known as JAPANESE.
I will be working on sounds but they aren't as important like in chinese and are easy to get.

And remember that japanese is a difficult language maybe not as hard in the begining like chinese but still don't become discouraged at the begining, as you continue throughout learning the language you will begin to understand it and comprehend it better just like any other language!

remember: NO POSTING!!

Table Of Contents:

Preface:
Chapter 1:
Chapter 2:
Chapter 3:

Well here is the japanese classes and yeah!! have fun!!

Preface
_________

Welcome to the beginner japanese lessons!

So the Set up of the lessons are as follows:
2 posts per chapter:

there will be a post containing a short dialog then a translation, then a bit of new words from the dialog. and there are about 4-5 dialogs in each chapter, this is so that you can see the sentence structure as well as what real japanese speakers would say in each instance. The first diaolouge will have hirogana so you can become familiar with it. The translations will stop in lesson 3, but you will be able to understand.
then another post containing extra stuff like pronunciation and that kind of stuff, i myself will add a couple or more Kanji/katakana symbols so that you can get used to them too (the book doesn't provide it, they don't provide hiragana either...)

Concerning Hirogana and Katakana Learning
I will make a whole entire class just for the learning of these japanese writing systems, but if ever feel like it i might start to add them in the japanese classes here, or more in the moderate/advanced classes.

Concerning Kanji learning

Kanji is hard, if you take the chinese classes you will learn chinese characters which are mostly the same in kanji minus some words, i might make a class im not sure yet

and please let me know if i've made a mistake, im not a master at japanese, and i know im bound to make mistakes so help is always welcome!!

Chapter 1 Grammer and Stuff
______________________________

Grammar Notes

Structures:

1. "A wa B desu". "A is B".

Nouns are identified in Japanese by using this pattern, which means "A is B". the particle "wa" goes between (A) the thing/person and (B) what identifies it. then desu completes the sentence.

Kore wa kasa desu. // This is an umbrella.
watashi wa Igirisujin desu. // I am British.
Sensei wa Amerikajin desu // the teacher is (an) American.

The negative equivalent of this pattern is formed by replacing desu with de wa arimasen. Alternative forms are ja arimasen, de wa nai desu, and ja nai desu. All are commonly used and you should be able to recognize them.

Kore wa kasa de wa arimasen. // this is not an umbrella.
Watashi wa Amerikajin de wa arimasen. // i am not (an) American.

Note: When "[A] wa" is understood, it is frequently omitted to avoid unnecessary repetition.
The following sequence of sentences, both statements about "A"

Watashi wa Amerikajin de wa arimasen. Igirisujin desu. // I am not (an) American. I am British.

not how there is no "watashi wa" when you say "Igirisujin desu" (I am british).

2. The Question Particle ka? A wa B desu ka?

adding ka to the end of the sentence makes the statement a yes/no question (sort of like (ma) in chinese) Meaning that the answer must begin in either hai (yes) or iie (no).

Hai (sensei wa) Amerikajin desu. // Yes, sensei is american
Iie, (sensei wa) Amerikajin de wa arimasen. // No sensei isn't american

3. The Sentence-final particles yo and ne

Both of these are attached to the end of sentences to provide emphasis. Yo is used to alert the listener to the situation indicated by the sentence to which yo is attached, very much like an explanation mark in English.

Watashi desu yo // It's me!
Kore wa jamu desu yo // This is jam!
So ga arimasen yo. // oh no(that's not so)!

Ne is used to solicit agreement from the listener, rather than "isn't it" in english

kore desu ne. // Yo mean (it is) this (one), don't you?
Okusan wa Igirisujin de wa arimasen ne. // Your wife isn't British is she?
