Confetti
It was there.
He saw it, dancing just above the rippling surface of the lake.
Confetti dropped down to press his nose to the ground, eyeballing the distance between his prey and where he crouched now, hidden in the tall grass beside the Epheria Lakefront.
The grasshopper was looking at him scornfully, as if taunting him. Confetti moved carefully closer...closer...
"What are you doing?
Splash!
It was a beautiful nosedive into the lake. Confetti surged to the top of the icy water, splashing about as he crawled back on land, shaking his head rapidly to dispel some of the chill.
"Jeez, Biscuit!" he said. "A little warning next time!"
The gladier standing a few feet away blanched, his worried eyes following Confetti.
"I - I - Sorry!" he gasped anxiously, peering around nervously. "I was - I mean, I didn't mean - I -"
Confetti laughed. "It's okay, Bee." he said. "I was just kidding. I'm fine; just a little wet."
Biscotti relaxed visibly, his long, silky ears flopping about his minty-green fur. "I - I just came to show you around a bit. You - you know, since you're still a little n-new and all."
Still slightly damp, Confetti nudged his flank playfully along his friend's side, pushing him off balance. "Sure, of course." he said cheerfully. "A tour would be great."
The Catalia glades, home of the Circinus gladiers of Feirion, was still a relatively new place for Confetti, who had only learned of its existance a few weeks past. Before stumbling across the glades, Confetti had been living on his own, randomly traveling from place to place without much thought. He barely remembered the names of the places he had visited, but then again, he hadn't much cared for them, so it didn't matter to him much. Catalia was, by far, the nicest place that Confetti had been to yet - and he planned to stay there for a very long time.
"Ah," he bsaid as he and Biscotti crossed through the lush grass over to an area where both of them slept, along with several other gladiers. "There's that female gladier again."
The two both slanted their gazes sideways. Sitting off, apparently sleeping, was a familiar brown and cream-colored gladier with a holly leaf stuck against one ear. Both eyes were closed, and she seemed quite peaceful.
"What is her name again?" Biscotti asked, standing behind Confetti and looking around him anxiously.
"Er..." said Confetti, racking his brain. "Kinenbi. Yes, that's it. Her name is Kinenbi."
