So...has anyone ever been on one?

Say where, when, why, and just tell about how it was. 3nodding

I'll be doing a study-abroad program in Spain this spring, but it's not a reciprocal exchange program...

I was in the IASTE program this autumn. It's an internship exchange program for European students. This semester's an internship semester so that's basically why I did it.

The program took me to Ukraine for 6 weeks. First time I traveled alone ^^ Man that quite cool. The country's a mess but the people I met there are pretty cool. The women are dropdead beautiful ! Daayyyuuummm !
It was quite a shock cuz I study computer science and lacks female representation here. I hardly get to see beautiful women here :-

It seems to me as if people in Ukraine don't really take work seriously. That goes for the work they do and other people's work. Quote of a small conversation that took place at some guy's work:

Ukrainian guy : "We have AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max and ArchiCAD for everybody working here."
German guy : "Yeah so do we at our university. Expensive right ?"
Ukrainian guy : "You paid for it ?" *expression of disbelief and surprise*
German guy : *puzzled expression * "Yeah of course. What ? Didn't you ?"
Ukrainian guy : "One word: keygen. How much did it cost you ?"
German guy : "A few thousand euros !" (Mind you 1 Euro >= 12 Hrivnias !!)
Ukrainian guy : *shouts in disbelief and amazement* "WHAT !?!?" *starts laughing*

...Yeah they don't take copyright too seriously. I know hardly anybody does but this was in a business !

I hardly had anything to do ! I was supposed be programming embedded systems...yeah did none of that, which ain't bad cuz that gave me more time to do other stuff ^^

Even though I couldn't speak the language ( learned a few words but that just a drop in the sea) I enjoyed my stay and would gladly do it again. Not in Ukraine again though wink I want to see other countries and meet other new people biggrin

Right now I'm really jealous of the Europeans who get to take part in Erasmus - it's free and usually lasts longer than American programs.
