Well, I made the following suggestion to be added to this guild:

maybe someone can maintain an art guide with subcategories:
- art shops
- art contests
- art requests
and such...
so basically a consumer's guide for art...
(i'm sure there are some out there somewhere, but since some people already started posting links to their threads in here, why not?)
However, I am very busy with schoolwork this year because I just became a grad student. I am willing to be a co-manager if we create a guide. So right now I am looking for at least one other person who has time to dedicate to it to work on it with me. smile
To be a manager, you must:
- love art... of course... heart
- not just go on gaia at least 2 or 3 times a week, but visit this guild 2 or 3 times a week. (if not, how are you going to manage the guide?)
- be nice and respectful.
- have the patience to occasionally go through thread after thread to make sure the request, auction, shop, etc. is still active.

How often you visit gaia AND this guild: I'm on Gaia for an average of 4-8 hours a day, and I check up on the guild at least 2-3 times a day, though I don't post much.
I'm not sure if I should add any more to this, but I might not be the best candidate because I don't visit the Requests and Commissions forum every day, so I can't look for new shops or things that would be good for the guide. sweatdrop

Actually, I think it should be somewhat of a mix. The managers won't always be able to track down good art shops or requests that other users may find so maybe the managers should just find what they can, and have other users submit their threads and stuff if they find something they like and we don't already have it. 3nodding sweatdrop

I literially live in the R/C so i have a good feel of the shops and how things work, as for Seiki's idea i think we can have users track down specific art shops they think are good and introduce it here in this guilde 3nodding

I just wanted to say this is a great idea! Great for newcomers..to the art world like me.
Is there going to be a list of price ranges for each shop link ? Ya know...help people visit certain shops in their price range.. X3; That's how a guide is right? @.@;;; )) ~ (o ^-^ o)

i'd say, from the two apps, chica would be a great co-manager, and seiki nova would be great co-manager too or maybe a helper, especially since both of you are administrators and can edit threads at will... xd
i think maybe see if anyone else applies in the next day or two?
it would not be a bad idea to have a price guide with 2 managers and 2 or 3 helpers...
so with the current suggestions, i was thinking of a layout like this:
Thread Stickied
Page 1:
- 1st post: Intro/Directory
- 2nd post: Rules/Criteria/Application
I think there should be some criteria... like for shops, it has to be opened for more than 3 days (we can agree on a limit later) and actually served customers. it will be pointless to add a shop that will close after we put it up for 2 days.
And for auctions and contests, some credibility would be nice. for example, I wouldn't want a noobie who stole art from other people, puts it up as an auction.
- 3rd post: Contests (if any)
- 4th post: reserved in case
- 5th post: reserved in case
- 6th post-15th post: Art auctions
(i put them in page one b/c they are changing the most, so it'll probably be easier to update when it's on the first page.)
Page 2: (A-O) Shops with description and price range
Page 3: (P-#) Shops with description and price range
Page 4: Art Contests with description and maximum worth?
Page 5 and on: people can post suggestions
as for all posts and applications, should we create a mule?
that way people can send applications to the mule, and none of our boxes will get full... and like d3nis3 said, it won't make the thread too cluttered...

(( Ah, I like the setup. I didn't imagine a whole page for each category. But that's good, we'll prolli need all the space we can get. ^^
I think a mule is also good.

yea i like the rules/criteria kinda thing, cuz you need a good basic start on any shop or contest just like the way the real forums have it
