I know that there are people out there that depend on medicinal drugs to survive. I've never been in a situation where I needed to find out, but I do know that all drugs come from a sorce of earthly nature once. They are combined and synthedicly created to make medicine, so isn't it possible that you could get all of those medicines herbaly?
This is more of a question of mine then a contridicion, you see. I don't wish to start an argument. I have been researching some "cures" (god don't let the fda get me) or relievments for certian ailments of the body that are stricly herbal. Like for asthma. I'm still perfecting this one, but it seems to be helping my test subjects greatly. (I am the first and formost test suject in this so don't freak.) I only have a very small case of asthma but I also smoke, so I have hopes that this will ease emphazima as well.
Anyways I would love to hear any opinions about this.

the problems with self medicating with herbs is that you have to worry about getting your dose right (else you may accidentally poison yourself, even if its a non poisonous herb too much can be very bad for you), are you sure that it is EXACTLY what you need and god forbid you get sick from pesticides and what-not; then again if you buy your herbal remedies in bottles, there is a good chance that they have lost potency from sitting on a shelf too long or have possibly been contamiated by other medicines in the capsulizing and bottling process.
on another note, legit doctors do not always know whats best for you either, they are paid by medical drug companies to promote their treatments and sometimes this may cloud a doctors better judgement or they may give you a deadly combination of meds. one time a doctor gave my boyfriend a few diffent things and the mixed very badly, he had a psychological reaction and tore our house apart before passiong out on the kitchen floor.
so there are risks and benefits of both, just remember that it is one thing to drink some peppermint or licorice tea for a sore throat and a whole different ball park to chew on some leaves and hope it'll cure a serious medical illness.

I agree that medicine began with herbs and that it should revert back to them rather than prescribing all these random synthetic pills. But I also fear for those of us with epilepsy. I cannot go off my meds for fear that my seizures will continue. I hate my medical condition, and, despite the reassurances made by my doctor that it will pass with age, I fear that I am permanently dependent on this medication. I wish I could find a herbal remedy instead of eating these disgusting pills, but I am afraid.

That's why the have testers for. ^^ ... Alright bad joke I know, I'm full of them today. Anyways I agree that there are some serious illnesses that (untill mass amounts of personal research, group studies, testing, ect.) should be concidered a nessesity to take perscriptions drugs. I just feel so... used. Just the whole system of the world is messed up right now. (Yes I say this as I'm on a computer... You know I hate myself sometimes) We shouldn't have to pay money for most of this crap. In fact there shouldn't be money at all! I LOVE the barder system. Why can't we use it anymore? It's rediculous. We can't because there will always be a need for the retched tree killing currency. *sigh* It's not like business' can pay the electric comopany with their products. That woud be awesome though. ^^ ... Damn it. I got off topic again.

I got off topic again. actually "paper" money, in the US anyway, isn't made of paper, its 75% linen and 25% cotton, that's why it doesnt disintegrate when it gets wet. so yeah, it's still made from plants, but not trees, technically.

Meh, just a figure of speach. The sad thing is the millions of documents that have to be printed duplicated numerous times before they can print those corruption feeding catastraphies. ^^ Nah really folks I'm just having to much fun with this. I do admit that I would much rather a world where I busted my a** everyday to get what I really needed in life, but I also know that the world is at the point right now where that's no likely. So here we are at the impass. I'll go on become an unnessisary implament of society (hopefully to one day complete my dream) and life with go on.

If I could find a purely natural, low/non-costly way to treat my diabetes along with my other problems, i would. I am also aware of a lot of mail order scams that involve so-called "natural" cures that often do more harm than good. But, I also know that a lot of herbal remedies that actually do work get discredited simply because science doesn't want to get tied back into "folk-medicine"...arrogant gits. stressed

Oh no, I would not suggest taking ANYTHING other then what your doctor has perscribed. If there is something natural you can talk, your doctor might know about it. Or he could send you to a holistic doctor to see if he knows anything. But really I would want a medical professional or someone that has been doing this crap for a while to take care of the major medical problems out there.
