I have never made a thread about this band until now, but I feel the need to express my undying love for this fantastic slab of 90's Prog.

Änglagård is a Swedish band that formed in 1991 by guitarist and lead vocalist Tord Lindman and bassist Johan Högberg. Both wanted to play Prog Rock in the vein of 70's Yes and King Crimson, so they placed ads to get a band together, which yielded results in the form of keyboardist Thomas Johnson, guitarist Jonas Engdegård, and flutist Anna Holmgren. After months of recording, they released one of the finest examples of early 90's Symphonic Prog, Hybris.

Unfortunately, the band didn't last very long, and after one more studio album and a live album not too long after that, they split up. The albums are, to this very day, heralded as the best of the best, and with damn good reason. Fortunately there has been effort in remastering much of the band's material, and a remastered Hybris (with bonus tracks) can even be bought on various online shops for under $20.

Still, Epilog is very hard to come by, and collectors fall over themselves trying to get a hold of it, as portrayed on sites like Amazon where it can be found for no less than $500 used.

Words really cannot do the album justice. It's near perfect. Hell, listen for yourself.

This isn't the best thing you have ever dug up Zakk.

It's certainly up there, though. Symphonic Prog doesn't get a whole lot better than this.

Maybe not the best, but sure as hell does NOT lack quality.

Of the early 90's Swedish scene, and perhaps most of Prog Rock in the 90's, MANY will agree that Änglagård is at the top. Counting all the eras, maybe not the top, but still very close. It marks the comeback of Symphonic Prog in the 90's and is proof that a sound can still remain fresh even 25 years after its inception.

That was pretty good, but I'll have to say best thing I think you dug up for me was The Tangent.

I think I'm having a falling-out with The Tangent to be honest. I've been focusing my energy almost entirely on Prog Rock lately, so in finding some of the bands I've found I've discovered bands far better than them.

Besides, I don't think listening to one song is really enough to get the full Änglagård experience.
