Has anyone else begun to feel like Gaia is becoming Skittles's b***h? All the Skittles items, the Skittles world, and now the Skittles fish and Skittles food in the aquarium...
My logical guess as to why is this site has been begun to take up so much server space with a lot of their new features (especially with ZOMG).
Do you think Gaia is becoming Skittles's b***h, and why?

gaia has always whored themselves out pretty hard, but i don't remember anything this extensive. i wouldn't doubt that they found somebody who would be a constant sponsor and they're going down on them every chance they can just so they can keep the money flowing in.

Don't you guys think you're being a little harsh?
Realistically speaking, whoring out the site is the only way to keep it going
at the rate Gaia grows. There are more new members every month than
members who donate/buy cash in a year. Seems pretty logical to me.
Besides, I love sour Skittles, lol.
Also, as long as Skittles aren't telling us what to do, what's it matter?

I rather have to agree with Anathema. This site is expensive to maintain, and considering that the majority of users are under 18, and thus have no real source of income (there are exceptions of course), and even a good amount of the people over 18 refuse/can't afford to spend real capital on gaia, then gaia can only really on those of us who do and sponsers. Considering the millions of users on gaia, and the fact that 100,000 users can be on simultaniously in some instances, I really don't feel that they have gone overboard with the sponser related activities/items. Not that long ago Gaia had to let go of many members of there staff due to budget issues, and that was WITH skittles as a sponser. So frankly, I'll put up with skittles, if it means the continues existance of Gaia.

I see your point, but at the same time this site has expanded significantly in the past two years, and most of it involves things that people probably don't give two tosses about.
How do you think it would fare without the cash shop? I think that's causing a lot of expanded bandwith, but as Alex said, there are people who refuse to pay money for this stuff.

Well, McCoy, let me ask you this, would you rather the content you didn't care about was unavoidable? I think Gaia has done a fair enough job of handling these things. You don't HAVE to go to the skittle world, or get the skittle fish, or do the skittle jigsaws. You can pretty much ignore the skittles announcements. Yes, they are there, but Gaia has done ot's best not to make us have to deal with them.

Sadly I agree, it is overly skittles, and the crap for skittles sucks.

Alright then, what do you propose they do to fund Gaia?

i don't mind the skittles crap, it's the luck chest that pissed me off! i had to buy a key just to get the item from this trunk or else i couldn't have it. so i buy a key and it didn't even work. next thing you know i'm seeing luck trunks everywhere...but i sold the key on the marketplace because i couldn't get the goofy item i bought the key for. then they fix the problem. *sighs* i dunno... whatever happened to rare events... do they even do that anymore?

i've gotten a couple lately, but they're very few and far between and they're pathetic when they do happen.

Tomorrow is a dream.
They are considerably more common in the Forums then in the Guilds, but even so, I get one every now and again. An increase in frequency might be nice though.
Today is our reality.

I don't think the Skittles are a big deal.
That luck chest does bother me. I get them almost every time I sign in, even when it's not for long. And it didn't work when I did it. ]:<

Wow, that's just wrong. They need to fix that.
