Take away King Crimson and you take away a huge cornerstone of Progressive Rock, therefore removing an equally large cornerstone of Progressive Metal.

Mayhem and Emperor pretty much defined black metal with their EPs: Death Crush, and Emperor. Hellhammer defined what black metal drumming would be as well.

Europe were the first band to be labeled "power metal" but Helloween, Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray really defined what great power metal sounded like.

Puritanical Shinigami Europe were the first band to be labeled "power metal" but Helloween, Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray really defined what great power metal sounded like. You forgot Pretty Maids!
