"To change the world, start with one step. However small, the first step is the hardest of all."
I came back to Gaia to oppose hatred, not to hang out with others who also believe hatred is wrong. Now, the latter is fantastic, but, if we really wish to change the world, we must start somewhere. I believe that somewhere should be Gaia, seeing as how we are already on that sight.
I have planned to create a series of topics to post in various areas in Gaia forums, including Extended Discussion, and, possibly, General Discussion and the Chatterbox.
Everyone on here can help me decide where to post them, where not to post them, how often to post them, and assist with suggestions, personal stories, and fixing mistakes.
I hope I can look forward to your help in the future. smile
If anyone has any questions or suggestions, do let me know!
Future Topics: What 'Tude do you Tote? (90%) God, are you There? (85%) False Idols (80%) Why Poverty? (80%) Must We Pollute Our Own Nests? (75%) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcWpkWBX04E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1DNjJd2YfA&NR=1 Think the Impossible (55%) The Last Cookie (50%) What is Rational? (50%) Fad Vs. Lifestyle (30%) Prophecy or Profolly (15%)
If there is a specific topic anyone wants me to do first, then I will do that one if I have enough information for it. Some of the topics are based on lessons in class that haven't been gone over yet, so they'll probably be in this list for a little while. Some of the topics like "False Idols" look like they're totally lame and boring, but I promise that they relate to you and are more epic than you think they are. Just so you know about how much information I can give for each one on the spot, I'll put up a percentage. Percentages eighty and up probably won't get much higher. If no one makes any suggestions by Friday, I will begin to use the one with the highest percentage, which is currently "What 'Tude Do You Tote?"

Only Christ I Follow We Are Each Others' Angels Many Christians believe that physical angels, in a sense of descending from heaven, do not appear anywhere on Earth anymore. However, many Atheists believe that angels just plain do not exist. Therefore, I attempt to address a much different idea of an angel. Is one of the sole purposes of human beings meant to alleviate the pain of fellow humans? I intend to approach the topic with the story of a single man, a professor of mine. His name has been changed in the story for identification and privacy purposes. After being acquainted face-to-face with love at first sight, Pablo, a stereotypical Mexican boy, was determined to chase her to the ends of the Earth. For him, the ends of the Earth would be a nowhere town nesting Lee University in Tennessee. Upon discovering that the most beautiful girl he had ever seen had fled to Lee University to finish her education, he bellowed confidently (and somewhat sarcastically), "I do not know where Lee University is, but God is calling me there!" However, with four flat tires on his jeep, Pablo was not following anyone anywhere. With the price of tires rather high, he seemed rather destined to remain in Mexico. The only suggestion his parents could give him was, "Drive at night; avoid cops." One regular Sunday, Pablo perched systematically in his favorite seat in his church's pews. One of his friends sitting next to him alerted, "There is a black man in the back of the church!" Perturbed, as his church was highly "Mexicanized," Pablo questioned, "What?" His friend repeated, "There is a black man in the back of the church!" Pablo glanced back to see a dark male patiently sitting in the last pew. He requested to his friend, "Go tell him that he is lost." After he had spoken with the man, who had retreated just outside, Pablo's friend returned and whispered, "He wants to see you outside." Assured that he had done something wrong to acquire the wrath of the man, Pablo rasped nervously, "If I am not back in ten minutes, check on me to make sure I am still alive!" Pablo, ready to duck and cover if needed, waddled outside to face the man. "I believe you need new tires to go to school," the man proclaimed. Still perturbed, Pablo only stared stupidly. After requesting him to hold his palm out, the man placed a $100 bill in his hand. Stuttering, Pablo attempted to explain that he could not take the money. As he stumbled over his words, the man continued to place $100 bills in his hand one-by-one until $400 lay in Pablo's open palm. The man merely declared "That should pay for the tires" before he left and was gone forever. Pablo constantly wondered if the man was an angel. Roughly ten years later, after graduating Lee, marrying said love of his life, and returning to Lee as a professor, he began a program in which he would take donated money overseas to give money to the poorest of the poor. He had initially hoped for $10,000 in donations, but he received a generous $18,000. Upon arriving to a lowly village, he decided that the most effective way of distributing the money would be to give it to the first 180 poorest homes. Shortly after knocking on the door of the first house, an elderly woman appeared. He proclaimed, "My name is Pablo, and I am here to give you $100." Immediately, she began to sob. She collapsed to the dust and clutched at his feet, still weeping. Pablo exclaimed his initial response, "Crazy lady!" She explained, "I have been praying for many weeks. I have no food or supplies, and I will die if I cannot find money to pay for them. I have been praying for an angel." Pablo contemplated her words. He knew, obviously, that he was no angel, but he was an angel to the old woman as the black man was to him. Angels in terms of winged creatures who bring peace are unnecessary if people themselves are able to carry each others' burdens to alleviate human suffrage. The length of my professor's story needs to be halved (and actually thought through), and I would like to add a picture or two like I did with the other one. If you can assist with either of thse, please do. =D Test forum: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/test-forum/test-me-not/t.53832789/

[boo's guild]
I would have posted earlier, but I didn't have time to say everything I wanted to say.
Titles are my weakness...
but really, this is great.
Prepare to be flamed, but as long as you can handle that, this is amazing.
Tell me whenever you post it, I'll help take the heat of the flamers and trolls.
Seriously... this is amazing, and I know we can do great things.

I wear a mask not to protect myself... Okay. So far as titles go, I dunno.
BUT! If you like, I can provide my thread creation services to make it spiffy looking, and prehaps even convert this into a totally guild sponsored cause.
I'm seeing...
An introduction post, like a header. A post where you copy/paste all that goodness you've put up here. A post where you explain briefly your cause ·Included here would be a link back to a thread (see below) (including shameless SO advertising) And posts for anything else.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Below: Here, in the SO Cause forum, we would have the guild sponsored Hate-Me-Not thread which would be (each line is a new post)
Header & overview Why you made the cause & how people can help Current thread & Cause A list of all of the other threads sprinkled around Gaia More shameless SO adverts Others
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
So the whole purpose of the thread here in the SO forum is to link together all of the smaller, seperate, sub-threads that you'll be sprinkling around Gaia.
So if you feel like this is the direction you'd like to go in, I'd be more than happy to assist you with my thread skills,
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Also, In the first post here, there are some spelling / grammar errors that I could fix as well if you like.
...but to hide myself from the outside.

Thank you so much for your support!
@ Boo: I was originally going to leave this sight for good, but God wanted me to come back to it. I shamefully fought him for a while, using my college work as an excuse to stay away. I had many thoughts I wanted to present to the people of Gaia, but I did not have the courage to stand up the the flames alone. I finally made a new account, but I still was not sure how I was going to pull off this fete. Then I ran into your siggy, and I felt like I needed to click on your guild. I found all of the support waiting for me right here, so I don't believe God intended me to spread the cause alone. I know that now, and I am definently ready for the flames ^-^ I just hold onto that quote, "To change the world start with one step. However small, the first step is the hardest of all." It is unbelievablu encouraging to see you and Centronias take an interest and tell me that we can make it work. Thank you for your help, I'll need all I can get =D
@ Centronias: G-guild sponsored event!? *hyperventalates* I would be honored! I was originally thinking of something simple and casual, more like a simple notice on a bilboard, but your idea would probably gather much more attention and be a better success overall. Thank you for your effert and support! Yes, please fix any grammatical and spelling errors you find. I have a long history of horrid typing mistakes, and I did not type any of this message into word or anything. I did not even check it when I was done LOLOL!

So, I just cried, because I'm so glad of your return to this noble cause, and my part in it.
I will do everything in my power to make this work, I am sure the three of us will do amazing together.
Actually, I KNOW the three of us will be able to do great things together.
And that totally gave me some character ideas for a story I'm working on..

This is getting quite epic! =o
Well, after corrections, maybe a flashy, demonstrative picture or two for the ADD folks, I'll stick it in those places and type another one to wait another week before being sent out. I actually have a list of topics that I've been making. I'll stick them in the first post so others can help with ideas. Methinks Saturday would be a good day to post it because a lot of people are bored on Saturday, thus they come to Gaia XDD!
I'll put it down the Saturday after I get continuous Internet, which probably won't be for another week and a half. It stinks having to wait that long and stuffs, but it's nice to thouroughly think things through.
Edit: The list has been put up, so please make a suggestion for what you would prefer next if you have a preference, which I imagine you will.

I would like to have posted this tomorrow, but it can wait another week.

This is the test forum I used to see if the post I currently have up works well. You can use it to test the post further in any changes you wish to make. I thought the title was kind of funny, I suppose.

Oh yes, I intend to have all of them posted in this think style, if it is of any consequence. I probably will not have them in the quite when I post them, unless anyone thinks I should. Edit: I will not be on this weekend, so it actually cannot be posted then. Wow, procrastination problems are starting to kick in. The following Saturday evening, I WILL post the message whether it is pretty or not =D A title is the main thing I am concerened about. I could make like a nice header for it on Photoshop, but I need a title to do that XDD! I am usully good with titles, but behold my epic failness!

I would personally do something more like this, it's easier on the eyes. And editing the writing, take out all "I believe"s and "I think"s. Turn them into fact, don't write it as if you are talking so much as a paper. The last paragraph should stay as is, but the rest should be more factual and opinionated. Opinionism as an Issue Hello, friends! I assume you are aware as well as I of the spreading of hatred on this website. On my older accounts, no sooner could I post than a pursuer would sneak up from behind to shout obsanities at my thought. More and more this behavior of Gaians in threads such as the Artists' or Writers' Corners, where being different should have the most value, has become more obvious. Therefore, I propose a slight solution, but it requires the participation of any and all who read this message. Pass by, respond, or even stalk, but do not hate without reason. Recall for a moment, the struggle of black oppression from the beginning of most nations. In America, African Americans did not begin to properly emerge into the society until the mid 60's. Today, people are able to peacefully coexist regardless of skin color. This feat was only possible because the whites and blacks who fought against black oppression saw something terribly wrong. Along with every battle to end racism was a battle to end sexism. Women struggled as much as blacks did to end the separation of genders in rights and the work place. The men and women fought for this goal because they could see wrongs being done. Naturally, most people today see racism and sexism as wrong, but, back then, all were blind to it because their eyes had not been opened. I believe there is another issue taking place that separates people from each other in violent ways. That issue is opinionism. The beginning excerpt from the Social Outcasts guild reads: "Humans praise their own differences from each other, yet they denounce others for their differences. Humans wish to change things, but are not willing to put forth the needed effort to produce that change. Humans voice their opinions, and wish to silence those who do not share their beliefs." Part of being a human, just as having a mind and a beating heart, is to see the world as we are, not how the world really is. If one is cruel, then the world will be cruel. "Smile and the world smiles with you." Therefore, I must ask everyone, does it matter so much what another person's opinion, idea, or religion is? Instead of holding ourselves at such high regard, we should listen and consider what others have to say. What makes ourselves so important and the other person not important at all? Having a closed mind is like having a closed fist. You may place jewels into your palm. Once you close your fist, the sign of hatred, those jewels are safe not to fall out, but neither can any more jewels come in. Only once you open your hand, can more jewels enter. The setback is that some can fall out. Are our ideas so important that we must hold onto them with a death grip? If we keep an open mind, the ideas of others can change us, almost always for the best. With a closed mind, you will never change and you will never change others. If your fist is closed in hatred, your jewels cannot spill into another person's hands. Consider this situation: Your hands are full of rubies, and only rubies. Rubies are lovely and quite nice to have. However, having so many of them, wouldn't it be nice to have something different? Perhaps trade a ruby for another's emerald or sapphire. As stated previously, you are losing some of your jewels, but you gain others. When you continue to give and get, your hands can be filled with all kinds of ideas and experiences, enriching your life. The setback is that, in the end, you may not have many rubies left. Is that such a horrible setback? If one's mind always stays the same, it can never change. I ask that anyone reading this open their mind and not discriminate from another's opinion. It is our duty as people to assist each other. The world is filled with enough challenges, and we have allies at our front door. We merely need to listen to them and let them in. Who knows, by listening to others, one may see the world, not as they are, but as the world would like to be seen.

Okay, thanks much! However, I only used "I believe" once, and it seems to be at an arguably appropriate time. I typicaly don't type "I think" or "I believe" because I find it silly. If you're typing somethiong, is it not automatically assumed to be what you believe or think?
When you say "easier on the eyes," do you mean prettier or easier to read? I placed it in bold simply to be easier to read. I don't know about everyone else, but I have sucky eyes and having to strain at small print is a drag XP.
That is all, I will update it to your suggestion and take out the "I believe," because, nontheless, it probably should not be there.
Thanks much! =D

Oh yes, I imagine a title something to do with "Why is your opinion more important than anyone else's?" would be appropriate. The person who reads the question and answers "it isn't" will likely move on; the idea will not influence them so much. However, the ones who are strongly opinionated will be more likely to enter the topic in an attempt to prove just why their oppinion is so fantastically greater than anyone else's. Those people are the ones we are catering(sp) towards.
Right, so something along those lines is nice. I would think of further suggestions, but I much leave or I won't get a good seat in the Conn Center for chapel. =o
