_______________ in life, many thoughts are born in the course of a moment, an hour, a day. Some are dreams, some visions. Often, we are unable to distinguish between them. To some, they are the same; however, not all dreams are visions. Much energy is lost in fanciful dreams that never bear fruit. But visions are messages from the Great One, each for a different purpose in life. Consequently, one person's vision may not be that of another. To have a vision, one must be prepared to receive it, and when it comes, to accept it. Thus, when these inner urges become reality, only then can visions be fulfilled. The spiritual side of life knows everyone's heart and who to trust it. How could a vision ever be given to someone to harbor if that person could not be trusted to carry it out?

Welcome to Mundo de Caramelo, a literate roleplay. A fantasy roleplay with some dreams, childishness and magic all thrown into one. A little heads up is that this roleplay will be revolving around some dark themes, sarcasm, sparkles and just general randomness. If you’d like to keep whatever grip on your sanity that you still have left then I’d suggest you leave quick before it gets too late. _______________Different, parallel realms have always existed, living side by side even before the essence of time had been established; and while these realms border one another and constantly titter on the edge of becoming connected, it is in very rare moments that the connection occurs. The exception, however, was of the ever-growing bond that Earth and the land of Sohnos. Forging a connection far stronger than any force that either realms has seen, the boundaries were broken, allowing the worlds’ inhabitants of both realms to travel freely between the two, Dreams, as the force later came to be known, became the basis of the existence between the two.
_______________When the humans slept and their bodies felt into a short hibernation, their spirits were freed and were welcomed to wander across the realm of Sohnos, where the imagination roamed wild and boundaries were broken. Creation, desire, life, flight, everything was possible! And what of the inhabitants of Sohno? Their lives, empowered by the wondrous energy that the humans provided, were given the abilities to create fabulous new things; for centuries, the two worlds coexisted in peace, a blessed harmony that could not be broken.
_______________That is, until the Pesadelos came.
_______________For centuries, the dreams had been peaceful and serene, until the corrupted mind of few began to plague the world. Sick, twisted desires spread, gaining pleasure only from the pain they inflicted upon others and soon, the ideas themselves began to shape Sohnos. In a desperate attempt to stop the horrible thoughts from entering the realm, the Sohnonites as well as the humans paid careful attention to the ideas that crossed the gateway between the worlds. For the most part, they managed to stop all those who wished to inflict damage upon the realms. All except one.
_______________There was a man named Armand, since birth, his thoughts had been consumed by foul demons and beast; his very actions and ideas twisted and molded into horrendous things—all sins and evils flowed through him; body and soul. It wasn’t long, thus, that his desires became those which could only be achieved in Sohno. One night, after having entered the wondrous realm, Armand tricked the guards who protected the gateway and, in a matter of minutes, the evil thoughts that clouded his mind became a solidified into a snarling, terrible beast. Freed from their creator’s mind, the Pesadelos ravaged through Sohnos, destroying everything in sight. They ripped the land to shreds and devoured the spirits of those unlucky enough to cross their path. They left nothing but evil and destruction upon their wake.
_______________In a last attempt to stop the Pesadelos, the Sohnonites severed the bond between the two realms and, with a heavy heart, created a barrier that would stop humans from entering again.
_______________Centuries have passed since the barrier was created and humans have all but forgotten the land where dreams came true; the few who claim to have caught a glimpse of the magical land is often written off as crazy and sent away to an institution where their screams and pleas fall upon deaf ears. Sohnos, however, was nowhere as lucky; without the energy that was harvested from the humans, their realm is quickly running out of its life force. However, with the Pesadelos running amok, it was impossible to reopen communication with the human realm. Consulting their high priest, the Sohnonites realized that there was only one solution: to connect with the human realm again.
_______________Together with the council elders, the high priest drew upon the power of the purest form of dreams—Hope, Love, Truth, and Faith, and using the last remaining energy of the realm, attempted to reconnect with the humans; however, the plan soon fell short. Armand’s spirit, having learned of their decision, sent forth an army of Pesadelos into the Temple of Four and assassinated the group. Yet, it was all too late, a short connection had been made, and in Earth, four souls were taken in their sleep and transported into the Sohnos. For the first time in centuries, Humans entered the realm once more.
_______________Enraged with what had happened, the Pesadelos spread throughout the realm seeking for the chosen four in hopes of destroying them before they learned of the reason behind their arrival; at the same time, four Guardians were chosen, one for each Soul, to protect them and lead them against the Pesadelos so the gates could at long last be reopened.
_______________Though one question still remains, could their destiny be fulfilled?

o1. literacy For me literacy does not mean paragraph over paragraph over paragraph of how her hair shone with the vivacity of a freshly laid blanket of snow. In fact, I prefer quality over quantity every single day. As such, I expect for you to have an extent knowledge of the English language, good spelling [I will understand typos], and little to no grammatical problems.
o2. characters On with the characters! Can I have a helping of uniqueness, please? I want characters that will make me go "wow he/she is cool!" Now, I don't want a whole bunch of emos, don't get me wrong, I love those kids, but honestly folks, they aren't the only kind of people in the world. No mary-sues please! No one is perfect and, yes, that includes the characters that come out of your pretty little head. In fact, perfect characters get boring and old pretty darn fast and makes everyone hate them almost instantly. Everyone has faults, can be wounded, and can die. End of story. Also, please try not to give me the usual sob story unless you have a really, really, REALLY good explanation for it, believe it or not there are people who' have happy lives.
o3. rating Gaia is a pg-13 role playing site and so, our role play is as well. I don’t want to see your characters “wrestling” or “playing doctor”. If needed be you can hint that something happened between the two characters but I don’t want to see anything that you wouldn’t let your preteen sibling to see unless you really, really hated him and wanted to scar him for life. Then there’s violence. Gore, blood, and guts are acceptable as you cannot expect anything less than in this typeof role play, however, I do NOT want to see an excessive use of gore or anything too descriptive or you will be asked to edit.
o4. cursing Now, now, you little potty mouths cursing is allowed in this little role play so you are allowed to do the jig. However I don’t want to see a five word sentence with four curse words.
o5. profiles No matter how much I stress this, there is always one person who manages to exasperate me by not following this rule. First off and foremost I am a hungry, greedy little girl and expect my fellow role players to be the same way; thus, I require that everyone send their profile to me before giving you the okay to post it up. Once you are done with it, I will revise it to make sure it is within the rules before it is posted up in the character thread.
o6. reservations If you want to reserve a spot while you work on your profile that is fine by me, but remember that this will be done in a first come-first serve basis and will have a five day limit to this reservation. Sorry :/
o8. posting Want to prettify your post? Not a problem! I am an aesthetic and enjoy seeing pretty things all around and that includes posting formats. You have the liberty to use whatever posting format you want and/or not using one altogether. The choice is yours. However, I will ask for people to post in sizes 9, 10, and 11 as it will make things clear and readable. Needless to say I hope to see everyone posting with “these” for your character’s speech and this for their thoughts and words in a language other than English [I also hope to see a small translation quote in the bottom]. I also hope to not be seeing any of *these* for actions or chat speak, u knw?

The bashing/flaming of one’s sexuality, belief system, personality, will result in an auto-ban from the rp with no possibility of being accepted again. HOPE :: The dreamers of hope. Those chosen to carry the power of hope were the ones who dreamed of it and needed it the most. With this dream they gain power over the eternal struggle for balance. Life and death, darkness and light. This pair holds powers over illusions and desire. They can see a person’s greatest fears and desire and bend them to whatever ends they please. They can change light to create illusions and change reality in the process. They also have the power to control dark matter and gravity.

Sohnos :: the dream realm. At night, when the human sleeps and his mind is allowed to wander, they enter Sohnos where they're wildest ideas become a reality and they can escape, if only for an instant, the laws that bound them in their world. Sohnos, in turn, is powered by the human's dreams and utilize the energy they receive to continue living, creating, existing. When the Pesadelos entered the realm of Sohnos, the ties with the human world were cut in order to protect the Sohnonites as well as the Humans. With the Pesadelos now running wild, the wondrous place has turned into a void, only having small areas where its original glory remains.
Sohnonites :: The inhabitants of Sohnos; many are the creations of human minds, others the creation of the human's energy. Different variations on the Sohnonite race exists.
Pesadelos :: Demonic beings that were created by Armand. Pesadelos are often easy to get rid off when they attack alone. However, as they multiply fairly quickly they tend to swarm and attack small groups or single Sohnonites. After consuming a certain number of Sohnonites, the Pesadelos transmute into a stronger form which allows them to travel in small groups or alone and, often times, appear more like Sohnonites.
Guardians :: Sohnonites that still posses the strength necessary to search for and protect the four stray human souls. Each of them is fed by one of the purest forms of energy: Hope, Love, Truth, and Faith.
