ooc: this topic is open to those who want to watch the comet shower or star gaze.

Payton walked up the staircase of the Astronomy Tower, hoping there weren't many students or even a class tonight. That wouldn't be good. The lamps hanging on the side of the walls made it easier to climb up the stone steps but also tricky as the stair never seemed to end. With his wand out in front of him to give an additional light, he found the wooden door leading to their escape. He lifted the loop to open to a cloudless sky and millions of tiny orbs of light. With a sigh of relief, the Tower, empty to them as he walked over to the middle of the platform to lay his blankets down.

Trista followed Payton through the door, and gazed up into the sky as the arrived at the top of the tower. She walked over to the edge of the platform and propped her body up against the wall and looked down at the grounds below. "This is quite lovely," she announced to the two students.

Emylee stood a bit off the side from Payton and Trista. She gazed at the stars.

Payton smirked to himself as he saw the two ladies enjoying the evening. He wasn't too shabby, since he didn't make them run to the hills with his social skills. He scratched the back of his bronze hair looking out at the horizon, trying to find the pin point or angle of the comet shower. He let out a sigh and went over to his book. He remembered last year, it was during this time when it occurred in Astronomy, but now that he didn't take the class any more he was still fascinated with how it had its own sequence.
"Did any of you take Astronomy or is taking Astronomy right now?" he asked first, hoping that they did or he would have to do the calculations on his own and it might take a while. "Maybe you can help me with these coordinates on the nearest telescope," he said, opening up to the chapter in his book with mythological star maps.

huffing and puffing, Laurel conquered the last few steps to the astronomy tower. In a rush she half ran half dragged her feet to the center of the room where she found three other students. "Did....I...miss...anything?" She asked through pants and continued to look up into the night sky.

"Sorry Payton, I haven't had the class yet. I was actually hoping to take it this year." She turned to the door and saw a student enter. "Hello there. No, you haven't missed a thing. We only just arrived ourselves." Trista smiled at the girl, then turned back to gaze up at the sky again.

Emylee went and sat near the tower wall a bit far away from the others.

"Sorry Payton, I haven't had the class yet. I was actually hoping to take it this year."
Payton gave a nod of understanding, knowing it was the start of the school term and usually most students took or will take Astronomy. "Not to worry, I can find the location in a few minutes," he said, not worrying about the time too much. He just wanted to check out a star that would be exploding and the after affect wouldn't reach them until a few hundred years.
His head turned after hearing an approaching sound from the door, another student decided to check out the stars as well. He grinned knowing that the night would be full with students coming to check out the display before curfew.
"Did....I...miss...anything?"
"Hello there. No, you haven't missed a thing. We only just arrived ourselves."
"Yes. I was just going to check out a star before the comet shower," he added, getting up from the blanket with his book in hand, his finger acting as a book marker. He saw that the other girl from his House stood along side the other wall, not wanting to feel like he was leaving anyone out, he introduced himself, "I'm Payton Sykes...in my sixth year," not wanting to be a stranger to the group of ladies.

Laurie smiled. "I'm Laurel Williams." She scratched the back of her head sheepishly. "Fourth year," she added. Laurel looked towards Payton. "Which star are you looking for? I'm not too familiar with astronomy, but I've always found it interesting."

"I'm Emylee Wolds, 5th year."
Payton nodded with a grin, glad he knew another fellow Ravenclaw. He was glad to see her follow them to the Tower, he likes to include people in what he does remembering the feeling of being alone. That wasn't much of a success.
"I'm Laurel Williams.""Fourth year,""Which star are you looking for? I'm not too familiar with astronomy, but I've always found it interesting."
"Well Laurel." He held his thought, trying to figure out the calculations in his head before going over to the telescope and adjusting it to the right angle of the star. He walked over to the telescope as he explained, "I'm trying to look for this one star that they found on my birthday...the month and day not really the year. But its always a sight to see when you find a star that shares the same finding day as your birthday."
He moved the telescope over towards the north west, around where Orion's belt shown visible. "Here come and check it out if you'd like," he said bending over a little to see the star in perfect form. "Its right on the shoulder of Orion's head."

Emylee listened to Payton and Laurel talk. She looked at the sky and took out her drawing pad. Emylee started to draw.

Laurel approached the telescope and with one eye looked for Payton's star. There right above Orion's shoulder was a bright little star shining vibrantly. Laurel laughed. "That is so cool. Man, I wish I had a birthday star. What's the name of it?"

"That is so cool. Man, I wish I had a birthday star. What's the name of it?"
"Payton," the boy replied without missing a beat. He looked at her squarely and then choked out a laugh, "I'm joking. It's Exomizo. Greek for shoulder," he explained and then looked over to see Emylee start drawing, he didn't want to her to be by herself even Trista. "Have fun looking around, Laurel. I'll be back in a bit," he said to the girl and walked over to his House mates.
"I hope this isn't boring the both of you," Payton said to the both of them and then pointed out behind them as the first comet shot across the sky quickly. "Look alive, I think its about to start soon."
