Okay, so I'm trying to write a fairy tale and since if you're a member here you must at least like fairy tales I thought this would be the perfect place to ask for it. So far I have a knight who has befriended a duck (guess what the inspiration there is) and he has just figured out that the duck is actually a princess under a curse from a jealous Fae. The problem: how he goes about breaking the curse when he has no way of knowing if the Fae is even still alive. (The princess had been under the curse so long she had even forgotten she was ever a princess)

Most standard ways of breaking curses in fairy tales are killing the one whom first cast the curse, a kiss of true love, weaving a coat of nettles and throwing it over the victim and completing a set of odd tasks in a certain order without giving in to temptation.
