Character Creation
Let's go over the character creation form for this guild.
Quote:
Name - Exactly what it sounds like. Go with whatever you want, but at least try to be creative. Meaning NEVER take names directly from popular media, unless you have a copyright for that particular anime, manga, movie, TV show, ect.
We killed the guy who tried to call himself Broly.
Age - Another no-brainer. Just TRY not to be too ridiculous about it. If your character is a martial arts master, or a general, or has some other gigantic accomplishment to brag about, they aren't going to be seven years old. And honestly, when was the last time you ever heard of a human living to five thousand years old?
Race - This one shouldn't be too hard. Most people choose human for simplicity reasons, but ultimately the choice is up to you. For more information on the various races, check the first post of this topic.
Other than that, if you put "Saiyan", "Kheldian", "Al Bhed", ect., you're begging to get your a** kicked.
Planet of Origin - Just pick one off the damn list. If you make one up, we'll cut you. We'll cut you a lot.
Weapons - This also should be easy, but we've had quite a few people put stupid things here, so I should probably clarify.
DO: Consider your character's personality and body type when selsecting weapons. If your character is a small-framed cleric, they're not going to have a vulcan cannon strapped to their back.
DON'T: Rip weapons directly from other sources. Being inspired by various animes/games is, in fact, encouraged here, but saying you have an eleven foot long sword (You all know the name of this particular sword) that can transform into a mana cannon or a giant robot is NOT allowed.
DO: Consider your character's history. Once again, the simpleton adventurer from a backwater planet with no modern technology should not have a bio-mechanical exoskeleton.
DON'T: EVER have an un-dodgeable weapon that can one-shot another character, and has absolutely no consequences for using. If I had a dollar for every [bleep]ing weapon people have tried to throw in here that can do those things, I'd have better things to do than teach people how to stop godmodding.
Powers - There are a wide variety of choices here, which makes it pretty complicated. So, let's try to split them into categories.
Attack powers: Simple enough. Sword mastery, Marksmanship,Energy manipulation, ect. Don't let these get too powerful.
Defense powers: These are a little more complicated. Basically things like regeneration, invulnerability, armors, super reflexes, ect.. The problem with these is that people often overpower their characters with them. Be careful to not godmod when usign defensive powers. A person with regeneration abilities can still be beaten with one-hit kills or rapid fire. An invul still takes damage, even if they do shrug most of it off. It starts to build up after a while.
Control powers: Telekinesis, pets, pyro/hydrokinesis, gravity control, ect.. Be careful not to godmod with these as well. Traditionally, using powers like these distracts the user and leaves them open to attacks from the target's teammates.
"Buff" powers: Usually underestimated, these powers are often the most useful in a group. The ability to heal, for instance, or to increase a teammates strength or defense. While the danger of godmodding is less with these powers, it still exists. Speed-casting is a no-no.
Travel powers: Flight, Teleportation, Superspeed, things like that.
Ship - Not too much to say here. Just make sure the vehicle fits your character. Also, avoid Omega-class cruisers unless you're a colonel or something.
Bio - Nine times out of ten, people simply alter their normal character for use here. If that's the case, this shouldn't be too hard. A few alterations and you're ready to go. If, however, your character is from scratch, be careful to consider the normal things: Orgin, training (if any), records, ect.
Personality - Again, this shouldn't be too hard. If you've thought forever on it and can't come up with anything, simply base the character's personality off your own. Be sure to include their mannerisms, wether they're hyperactive or lazy, outgoing or shy, anything you can think of.
Misc. - Include anything that didn't fit elsewhere in here. Birthday, blood type, favorite color, stuff like that.
Theme song - Oh, c'mon. You all know that song that fits your character just perfectly. Just think about it a bit before you make your decision, mm'kay? The lazy, flirty, easy-going hero isn't going to use Godsmack for his theme, right?
