So, which do you prefer? Legend of Drizzt, or Lord of the Rings? Have you actually ever read them both? And this includes The Hobbit and The Silmarillion, for the sake of Lord of the Rings. So, please tell.

I'm sorry to say that I haven't even touched LotR yet. I did make the first step by saying that when Karak and I finish up some of the R.A. Salvatore books, we're going to read The Hobbit, which I bought.

I started The Hobbit in 3rd or 4th grade... some donkey hole took my bookmark out and I couldn't find the page I was on... so I lost my will to read... so now I'm going to restart when I'm done R.A. Salvator and Chris Evans.

I've read all of LoD that's out, and all of LotR. LoD I like more, but I have to say LotR is better written.
Senior year of high school I took British Literature, and we spent a semester over LotR and learned the back history and everything. I learned about the creation of the world and the gods, elves, and everything. talk2hand Plus, I was tested on all of it. So, yeah it was better written, but I still like the Drizzt series better. All because of Guenhwyvar rofl

If you read the Silmarillion, it has the whole creation story for middle earth. And to tell you the truth, I'd have to say LoD is better written, only because--and this is opinion--I like the plot, characters, and setting more. Plus, LotR had a lot of un-needed detail. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of LotR, I just prefer LoD.

I love L.O.D.
The characters were awesome. and when i was reading the Hobbit i felt like i wanted to shoot myself :/
That may have been because i was younger and less patient. but i dunno.

*cough* I had to read the Hobbit in grade nine... and then write an essay on it. I got 63% on the essay - which makes sense because I thought the book was boring as all hell. I haven't even tried reading any of the other books, because I figure they can't be too much better. The movies are okay though, but I haven't really watched much of them... Or at least, I think I saw the first one in it's entirety, but only bits of the second and third. I dunno.
So yeah, I guess I can't really be 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure I like LoD better.

I lost interest in the movies because of a crappy DVD we got that was scratched up. The voices were a minute or two off... pretty bad when a girl is speaking while the guy's lips are moving.

You can't make me choose! That's a sin in itself! They both have their points of awesome! The way they are written is different, and capture me in different ways.
((I have not read the Simarillion, and I don't think I would survive it either. xD))

... um... well... I really shouldn't say this 'cause it is Drizzt's turf but I'm a bigger fan of LotR. Don't worry though I'm still loyal to this guild. And no one in Middle-Earth is as singularly awesome as Drizzt.
