Doesn't seem to be a lot of threads around here yet, so I figured I'd start off with a pretty standard thread, who do you guys think are the most underused/overlooked characters in the series, I personally think both Asuma, and Kurenai are really overlooked. they've only gotten a little time in battles, but the stuff you do see is pretty damn cool, so I'd really like to see them in a fight where we get to see them lay all their cards on the table.

I haven't watched a TON of Naruto, and I haven't really seen Gaara too much. I think he's underused

Team 8, me thinks. In the manga, I've seen very little Hinata action after the exams. In the anime, Shino must have exploded because not only is he absent in the rescue arc, but he wasn't even around for those filler episodes with the bounty hunter. Kiba isn't underused, but you can never get enough of Kiba =B
Oh yeah, and there's the whole thing with them only appearing for like...3 seconds after the time skip. That was SO UNCOOL.

I don't really like the Anime that much, I love the Manga though, I am seriously thinking about posting the newest Chapters here in my guild.
I think Tenten is a little overlooked...and Asuma.

Yeah, TenTen is definitely overlooked. Same with Shizune(I think that's her name). Yeah, they overlook a lot of characters but overall, they do a pretty good job. After all, there were a lot of characters to begin with.

I think Shino is one of the most underused characters out there. When I first got into Naruto I could never remember which one he was. (Which I feel horrible about now because he's one of my favorites.) He has mad skill, as seen in fights like the one with the sound and Kankurou. (Who, I believe, is also relatively underused.) I personally think he would have been a great ally for the "Super Team," but that's way over and done with. But I was very amused with his sudden appearance in Part 2. It had me laughing. ^^

Goodness, Tenten is the most underused Naruto character, in my opinion. I can't believe that Kishimoto made such a wicked-cool character (a girl who specialises in weaponry and marksmanship) and then completely neglects her. I mean, the poor thing gets NO character development (except in the filler arc I think, but I've only seen up to 152). She doesn't even get a clan name. Grrrrrrrr.
(Tell me if I'm wrong about this; remember I've only seen one episode of the Team Gai filler arc):-
Have you all noticed, that's we've been given insight into the past of ALL of the Rookie Nine and Team Gai except for Tenten? That's just cruel.

Yes, yes, we haven't seen TenTen's past at all! It's so cruel....but you know, Kishi said that TenTen was his favorite female character. I remember it being posted in NF. TenTen has been underused since the beginning of the anime/manga, so I guess I'm used to it, even though she's one of my favorite characters. So, I was satisfied with the spotlight TenTen recieved in the filler arc. Her last name.....well, a lot of people assume (somehow) that TenTen is from the Uchiha clan.....but, the reasonable people think that she's from another country. Ahh......please forgive me for straying off....
Ino, Shino, and Kin are underused characters too. Even though we have seen flashbacks going back to when Ino and Sakura were friends, that's not enough insight into Ino's past. We also haven't seen her appear for a long time. Shino...well, we all know that he's in Team 8 and that he's from a bug-using clan, but that's all he's ever been described as. It's true that he did get spotlight while fighting Kankurou....and that whole Team 8 filler arc, but he's still completely mysterious. Kin hasn't been in much, she appeared in the beginning of the Chuunin Exam, and just disappeared.

Orochimaru used her and Zaku as a sacrifice to bring back the 1st and 2nd Hokage, remember? Team Kurenai and Team Gai have been in the fillers... But Team Asuma is getting left out... How do people arrive at the conclusion that Tenten is an Uchiha? If she had to be in a clan, I'd say the Nara clan... She has brown hair, like the Nara's, and... I guess that's all they have in common, really. x__x;

I think Kurenai is the most unused...she did only 1 Jutsu in the entire series, and she was in a situation where she was useless too...

I don't think she's from there...plus I think Itachi would've killed her is she was from the Uchiha clan.It's just something they made up because TenTen dosen't have a last name >.< They admit that it isn't real of course, they were just having fun ^_^ The NejiTen fanlisting also added that Neji and TenTen's kids would end up with the Sharingukan.....XD I rather think it's funny. About Kin......I kinda forgot sweatdrop It's been a long time since I've seen that episode, especially since I had to wait one year till my brother came back to show me the rest of the episodes. Now I can download them by myself! YAY! biggrin

Zirumi I haven't watched a TON of Naruto, and I haven't really seen Gaara too much. I think he's underused keep watching.. you won't see him underused for long.. wink
