So, as of last month officially.. and in march unofficially I have been promoted to lead developer on my project. As such I am afforded one normal developer as sort of an underling. Problem is that I am having trouble figuring out how to manage this employee who has been assigned to me.

So I am wondering if anyone here is in a similar situation and could give me some advice on managing people. As currently I just go to my boss and let her tell me how to manage him and then I repeat the message.
