Welcome to the Corspeyard. This thread is for you to post your introduction. If you're having trouble thinking of what to post, try some of these:
•Where you're from
•How you found out about goth
•Your favorite deathrock/batcave/gothrock bands

Philthadelphia, PA
Grew up with New Wave and Post-Punk, stumbled into Goth and Deathrock. Well, immersed myself into Deathrock.
I searched Deathrock in guilds.
Right now, Bloody Dead and Sexy's new demo's been getting a lot of play on my end in between Leningrad Sandwich, 13th Chime's new Singles compilation, and Rubella Ballet's Anarchy in the UV.
I can't pick a favorite band xD

Alright, here's some stuff about me. My name is Lucas (some people call me Kenny). I'm from Georgia (the state, not the country). I found out about deathrock when I got curious and looked up what goth is. The bands I listen to can be found in my interest tags (not all of them are deathrock, though). For more information, see my profile (when I get around to adding more information).

Hi everyone! I'm from Denver. I found out about death rock from suggestions at the record stores that I go to. I got invited by Kenny0712. As for death rock I listen to Christan Death, Kommunity FK, and the Skeletal Family , but mostly I listen to Siouxsie and the Banshees, Cocteau Twins, and Sonic Youth (If you want to know more, feel free to look at my page).

I was introduced to deathrock by the internet radio station, Radio Ghoul School, which played a lot of it. Currently, my favourite deathrock bands are Ausgang, Bone Orchard, Cinema Strange and Sex Gang Children.

(Lmao, again with the lengthy posts)

Hello, all. Name's Greg, though you can call me Maxi. Deathrock is just one of the many genres I listen to, one of the more interesting. Awesome lyrics, crazy imagery, cmon, you just got to love it razz

Well, I don't really know the specifics of how I got into Deathrock, buuut. Hey, what the hell. Doesn't really matter, right?

Oddly enough, I had never heard the word goth, or even heard of the subculture til I saw a documentary on tv, when I was 13 or 14, all about 20 years of Brazilian goth culture. The roots, interviews with some of the oldest goths in Brazil who organized the scene, etc. Showed all sorts of delectable imagery and when I heard that first Sisters of Mercy song and vid on there, crazy hair and leather jackets galore, I fell in love. I wondered how the ******** I had missed a bunch of people I share views and tastes with, so I did research and hey, I eventually became an active member in the community I so greatly admire.

I'm one of those who appreciate the distinction between traditional goths, deathrockers, cyber goths, rivetheads, BUT I also understand that each of these represents a different facet of a constantly-evolving and ever-growing international culture. No single group is better than the other.

wink

MUSIC!

Anyway, enough about me. Started with Classical music and light Rock til 13-14, hit Sisters of Mercy, the Cure, etc. from 14-15, then I discovered Industrial. ********. YEAH. Then I got used to Metal, and got into that as well.

Today, at any one time, you'll see Melodic Death Metal bands like Insomnium and Dark Tranquility, accompanied by Beethoven and Bach, plus Power Metal and Heavy Metal like Kamelot and Judas Priest, coupled with Industrial and the more classic stuff, Suicide Commando and Grendel, to Sisters of Mercy and The Cure.

Nice to meet you all, and thanks for the invite Kenny~

Blessed be, and may fortune shine upon you all,
-Maximilian Vvaryk Aurea

I be The War on Indifference. I've got too many aliases to keep track of, so... yeah.
I live in the Metro-Detroit area of Michigan. Pretty decent music scene, but not so much that I'm interested in unfortunately.
How I got into Deathrock/Goth/etc... about 2 years ago I decided that my music tastes were... well, boring me. I used to listen to such poetic artistry as Mindless Self Indulgence, Linkin Park and Flyleaf. So joined a guild here on Gaia after stalking around their forums for a while, I lurked in the music section, took recommendations and built a list of bands and artists to make a trial playlist of. At first it didn't do much for me and I was half-considering going back to my old music, but after a few days I remember being in the car and having the strangest urge to go listen to some Virgin Prunes. After that it was a downward spiral into more obscure, Postpunk descended territory and it's still going on today. It doesn't help that my Aunt was a big fan of Postpunk back in the day, and my Uncle has a group that does a "Zombie Surfer/B Movie Madness" kind of Horror Punk.

My all time favorite bands include Deadchovsky, Cinema Strange, the Virgin Prunes, Killing Joke, Fields of the Nephilim, Cauda Pavonis, Sex Gang Children and Specimen. There's a lot more, but if I had to name absolute favorites...

And hey, did anyone else hear about Anne Marie Hurst and Stan Greenwood? Apparently they're getting back together to do some Skeletal Family/Ghost Dance stuff, and put out some new material.
