I have been taking it upon myself to do the moderators' job and inform people of where things should be posted. I usually do this via PM and a lot of the time the responce I get is the same:

My opinion is that this needs to change and probably sooner rather than later.

Any ideas on what we could do?

Tell people to learn to read. People don't seem to understand that if they took the extra fifteen seconds to look through the forum lists and when they find a forum spend a couple minutes to read the rules they wouldn't get yelled at .

I agree with Doctor Yueh but at the same time I wonder if Gaia could be doing more to help new users.
It doesn't help that they changed the forums page and descriptions now pop up only if you hover over them for a few seconds.
Maybe Gaia should make it mandatory for the new users to go over all of the forums and take a quiz on it....?

Cause of all that is bad: New Users Quest.

It directs new users to the Entertainment Discussion and dumps them there instead of showing them all different forums and explaining each one. Maybe someone can create a petition asking for a change to the New Users Quest, I've got my hands full with the Twilight petition.

I rather like that quiz idea, Colourblind is correct in saying that the new user quest takes people to the Entertainment forum for their first posting experience, and even ( if my memory serves me well) encourages them to make an introduction post there. The quizes could be a quest, and you could have one for the TOS as well. The rewards, which could be a sizable amount of gold, would be more than enough incentive for new users to read the TOS, not to mention the forum rules.

One thing I am doing is opening myself up for newbies to come and ask me questions. I'm using easy to understand methods involving screenshots and short, straight to the point details.

I may also start working on a guide for them though I think just letting them ask me questions would work better.
