I hate this whole damn state, actually, but that's beside of the point. My mother attempted to enroll us (and by that I mean was forced to by my aunt) into Hickory High today. The process began with the secretary asking us "Are you SURE you're in the right district?" I knew that it was going to be a fun day. Why can't SOMEONE involved in this town's government possess a basic level of competence? We were leading HER through the enrollment process.

Sorry you dislike it here so much, Shane. Personally, I like it here better than Indiana, where I grew up. Where would you go if you could?

I don't know. I've only left the state a few times, and this is the only place I've ever lived. I just want to be far away from the heat and the bad memories and, most importantly, my family. I've been thinking about Maine or Seattle.

I've heard people say Idaho & Oregon are both really good places to live. Mind you, you're awfully close to an active volcano...two, if you count Mt. Rainer. But it's usually cool & sometimes very rainy (I have a cousin in Washington state). And they have a lot of SF cons out thataways. smile

Bah, volcanoes. Pfft. I am man, I fear nothing.
I think I'll look into that. The time to make a decision approaches ever more rapidly, and I don't want to waste a moment.

I like to visit Hickory, but then again 2 of my best friends live there & my husband grew up mostly in that area.
