I'm pretty sure I have like flash and java on my computer, but I can not see anyones names or avatars when I enter any sort of forum. Is there something else I could be missing?

Nothing I can think of. You should be able to see the text without any of that. Hmm... I suggest maybe updating your flash and Java, then if that doesn't work, updating us.
