How did you find out about goth? What was the first related band you found?

In a thread I posted about The Sisters of Mercy, some where arguing about the looks of Andrew Eldritch and Rozz Williams was mentioned. I looked for some of his music and Flowers came up. I really liked so I looked deeper and found Christian Death

I got into goth when I first heard Siouxsie and the Banshees Spellbound. After that I wanted to learn about the music and then I got hooked.

Gah. Sometime when I was 12 or so, I took up listening to some alternative music my brother had. And through his fantasymetal I learned of "gothic" metal, and then came the Sisters of Mercy, Diva Destruction, Inkubus Sukkubus, Current 93, Siouxsie, some cyber crap... It was fairly eclectic. I'm just lucky to have grown up with an internet connection, I had no relatives or friends with similar interests, although I did find some pearls through 80's compilations of my parents.
And I've been going to Goth/oldschool parties since I was 13, it quite much helped me develop my taste in music.

I would say that Switchblade Symphony was probably my first goth band. I am more into metal. Honestly, I'm not sure what constitutes as "goth" music. One of the reasons I joined this guild.
