Kinda disappointed that they dropped Sam Riegel for Bryce, but he still does a pretty good Zidane, anyway.

WoL- Eh, his voice screams Saturday morning cartoon hero. Well I wouldn't even say that, it’s more like the VA is actually TRYING to be heroic sounding. Battle voice makes me mad though. He tends to have no emotion unlike his Japanese counterpart. Though the Japanese one was using the generic hero voice, he had emotion to it which made it acceptable.
Garland- Hmmm, its really hard to put him down. His voice changes from ok, to good, to what the ******** you could get everything else right, but when you need to yell you calmly whisper. His Jap voice wasn't much better so whatever.
Firion- BAd choice period. Ichigo from bleach should not play calm collect characters in general. Many have said I was biased for this, but no, when people don't understand characters they only want something that's familiar. His overall tone is over aggressive and that does not fit Firion's personality. If they were to get a VA that was calmer, yes it would work. His battle voices are HORRIBLE! Though the Jap VA was aggressive in the cutscenes, he used a typical Firion tone while in battle. Jap wins.
Emperor- Eh......ok people love him. But I liked the Japanese voice a bit more. If square was gong to put both his forms in, they could have at least made the VA use a demonic voice. Honestly, I have a voice that would fit him better-cough-me-cough-, but whatever. I muted voices anyways.
Onion Knight- Well its alright. Its Sora from KH and everyone knows it. He doesn't have as much feeling as the Jap one though, but in its defense, the jap voice for Ok was deeper than all the jap VA. Its alright but not perfect.
CoD- If she put a bit more feeling in it, she would be perfect. Then again, I love the evil women and the seductive voices made me happy ^^. Near perfect. The Jap one made her sound a little like an old lady.....
Cecil- Though he had a VA, that same VA messed up. He lacks emotion which was a surprise after his performance on FF4DS. His Jap voice is a lot better and though it was lighter in Japanese, it had tons of feeling. I personally wished they would do diff tones while in DK or paladin though.....
Golbez- One word, PERFECT! It’s so close to his jap and it has the same amount of emotion that FF4ds had with Golbez. They did great with him.
Bartz- Honestly, they need someone like me with that borderline carefree idiot to play him. He doesn't have that hint of raw stupidity and dumb luck like he had in 5.
Ex-Death- Not real happy with him. I always figured he would be deeper in English, but I was dead wrong. Oh well, provided he doesn't speak his move during EVERY move like WoL does, I should be fine with it.
Terra- ...........................................She sounds a bit TOO fragile. I know they were aiming for her personality before she found her purpose, but they went overboard. I'm fine with it for the most part, but I'm biased because I hate the save me save me kinda girls. Seeing my Ice Queen Lenneth play a fragile woman makes me sad. But her voice will always be Lenneth to me ^^
Kefka- He varies from person to person. My opinion though, he is both great and absolutely horrible. His cutscene work is awesome; the majority of his battle voices kinda suck though. He has good work so I won't rip on him.
Cloud- Steve Burton messed up so bad I was so happy. He now has the William Shatner problem where he takes long pauses after a couple words. Take that Days of our lives. Your actor messed up!
Sephiroth- Anyone who has seen Advent Children or played KH, that is how he still sounds. Lame.
Squall- Squall is now English. Chip chip, how smashing! Yeah, he has an English accent and it’s funny. Though it still lacks emotion like most so whatever.
Ultimecia- She is good, but I felt she was not putting in a good effort. I have heard her stuff elsewhere, and comparing her to her earlier work, makes me kinda mad she didn't put too much effort into making Ultimecia awesome.
Zidane- God it was bad. I played a bit of 9 to get an idea on how he should have been played. They messed up. They could have done much better.
Kuja- You know how he had a very feminine voice in Japanese like he should have? Well he has the generic emo voice and its lame. He sounds like an actual man now. Kuja? MAN? Brain....overload.......error....
Tidus- Good in cutscenes, bad in combat. He lacks the major emotion that Jap tidus had. I mean, A LOT of emotion.
Jecht- A lot of people, including myself, miss his ORARARARA yell he does, but his voice still works for the most part.
Cosmos- She is hot, but her voice doesn't seem to work as well as many would have hoped. To put it lightly, cosmos is a peaceful goddess, and she sounds like one of those hardened elves from lord of the rings......
Chaos- Its Goliath, from Gargoyles. I feel he could be a little more evil sounding, but it’s easily overlooked seeing that he is not a character you can choose. You’re screaming at your psp the majority of the fight.
Shantotto- Well if it was high pitched it would rock. But they age of the voice doesn’t seem to fit Shantotto with how young they make her. She sounds like an old lit teacher in a British university.
Gabranth- Well…..for someone as heavily armored as him, he has the voice of a little man. After hearing his Jap voice, I can feel the scary rage in him during battle, now its kinda……yeah. I’m not in the least bit worried….

Cloud is played by a soap opera star steve burton. I know thins becaus ebyddy zach laughed about it when he found out. I believe he is on days of our lives. Do not work with your mother. You will be forced to watch soaps during your break.

I don't like Yuri Lowenthal's VA'ing in this.
Not compared to the amount of emotion and feeling he put into Luke, Asch's and Sasuke's voices.
It's like he got lazy.

Well I'm guessing they did seperate voice acting sessions during production. I am dubbing the game and failing at it at that, but I know how voice acting works for the most part. Chris Sabat knows what he is doing through his long history, and when you have to change your voice as much as he did, you tend to know how things works. I mean, look how he did with Tenkaiechi while playing Yamcha and Piccolo.
My guess is that the guy behind the voices was a moron and decided not to help them through VA during battle. If he or she was dumb enough to force battle voices during cutscene VAing its no wonder a lot of voices sound tired.

Bartz I was bitterly dissapointed in though. He has a history of playing characters that fit Bartz' description, however he failed to deliver. But again, I'm re dubbing his voice and changing some of the wording on battle voices. Honesty, it should have been written better.
I'll write up what I'm changing in battle in a sec, gotta find the script, yes I wrote one. I got three voices already.

I mean, I could probably think of something else, but you'd have to tell me what kind of thing you'd like to replace it. A laugh? A different taunt? A threat?

Well seeing as I changed all of Bartz' battle wording ( We will get around to story mode some other time. Hacking is a b***h) but it would have to be another threat more or less. I re did all of Mateus' laughs to sound, well more conceited, and I changed Starfall charge from the laugh and the word heaven(Then some out of character grunts) To the laugh to the grunts the Japanese players grew attached to. I kept his English version of Uboar! But I was half tempted……once we find someone who can manage a deep voice, we are changing the words when Warrior of Light fights Garland to, “ I, Garland will knock you DOWN!” muffin to those that get the joke….
