Izumi finally get her own account heart


As may know from threads Making Own Kimono and Kimono Pattern,
Izumi is going to AnimeFest convention with Candy and her family (her brother and his 2 year old son are going as Goku and Gohan from DBZ xd ). Is 9/4/09 - 9/7/09. Just couple more weeks. Still lot of time until convention, but Izumi get nervous after having dream yesterday night.

Is 5:00am now.. Izumi go to bed at 10:00pm and wake up at 12:00am. Izumi get upset stomach from nerves and not able to go to sleep until 3:00am and now is 5:00am and Izumi just wake up again with upset stomach gonk

Izumi just dream that it was like last convention Izumi went to with Candy and her family, except Izumi wearing Geiko (Geisha) cosplay instead of Maiko as was last convention. Izumi going as Geiko to this one and it look more accurate.

But in dream, it just like last convention; Izumi walk around and people ask for pictures and think Izumi real Geiko. Even in dealer room was in last convention, very small compared to other conventions. Izumi look at same thing as last time, mostly at booth with lot of kimono thing. Izumi buy her first easy-obi there and love it so much Izumi make another one with many musubi (the bow/knot). So far only 2 musubi made, a otaiko musubi (one going to wear with Geiko cosplay) and a double bow (not sure of the name) is like this picture, but have another bow on top and what in picture look like ends of bow hanging down heart


It made of nice, heavy purple fabric that Candy find full, new bolt on clearance part in Walmart. Izumi try to get picture of practice before convention, after sores on forehead from katsura (the Geiko wig)- it make small blisters that Izumi wear band-aid over so can still wear katsura, but they can be seen lot from under front edge.

Is on katsura there strip of stiff fabric that hair rooted into to make look more real from decent distance. Is that fabric that make blisters. Izumi is hoping that go away before convention so they not pop and get blood on katsura. Izumi rather it make new blister than pop old.

Izumi first only able to wear katsura for few hours before start to get headache. It was with Maiko katsura that a bit too small (it rub so much at last convention that Izumi get small bald spot at front of hair xd )




Now Izumi able to wear katsura for all day (about 10:00am - 10:00pm) without headache.. although Izumi get migraine after couple days of starting to wear katsura. Is much better now Izumi have the right katsura.

Izumi hope she forget dream soon so not get upset stomach so much before convention.

Izumi will be sure to post here pictures from convention and practice of cosplay when blisters go away.

Another dream of the convention, only this time Izumi forget kimono and have to find fabric store and make new one in one day.. For decent kimono (not yukata, that can be done in one day), it take at least three day..

Izumi check weather in Dallas for this coming weekend, it going to be rain Thursday (when we arrive) and Friday (first day of convention)

Izumi need to get oil paper parasol - it like paper one used to shade from sun and for dance, but is oiled so it used in rain. Izumi only have normal red with sakura petals swirling around.

Minoru's kimono and obi are made - Izumi not sure if going to make hakama now.. Izumi try one, but fabric too soft and make too small so kimono seen bunched up under it. Izumi try again later with better fabric.
Izumi get picture later when Izumi get help take head off so can remove shirt (Izumi hate how neckline too small to go over head, and no buttons/snaps).. no tabi or getta.. maybe no sword, we see. He just look so cute in just light blue kimono.

strange, not many ask for picture of Izumi this time, much more when dress as Maiko.. maybe furisode and kanzashi.. but Izumi get as much attention with that as with shirt borrow from Candy say "Best Aunt Ever"

Next convention likely not cosplay and only go one day for dealer room and picture

He wants to sell Steam Punk and Cyber Punk and wants me to sell some of my art- that includes sewing and stuffs

I'm working on a Victorian outfit to sell as EGA (Elegant Gothic Aristocrat)
So far I've got the main part of the skirt done. I just need to put a trim on the train so it will stop flipping up, a zipper and some lining, then make the top.

I'm going to make some yukata and easy obi to sell also along with koshihimo (the ties used to hold a kimono on) -no one ever sells those at cons! Also some bustles and petticoats to go with the Victorian dresses.. I think I'm going to try and find a place that sells wholesale hoop-skirts.. I'll make any orders of stuffs closer to the date of the con.. Just in case something happens and brother decides not to do it rolleyes


OH! some Victorian hats would be neat! Not the mini ones, but full size, fluffy, flamboyant hats. I'm also working on miniatures (1/3 or SD and 1/4 or MSD sized for BJDs) so far I have 12 onigiri being textured (they just need to be thrown in the oven and painted) to be sold in packs of 3 for.. I don't know.. $5-10/pack? I'm also making miniature roses and breakfast items (cresaunts, cinamin rolles, bacon, pancakes, waffles, eggs, etc.)- all from polymer clay. I'll post pics along with some pics of Izumi's haul from the last con.

but next up is Anime Fest again!
I'm not sure if my costume (Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed 2) will be ready in time.. if not, we'll skip it and wait for the next con which is Onicon in Houston at the end of October.

can't wait to mess with the security there if one of them happens to see my hidden blade out for a pic.. which is very likely as people are sure to want to see a working hidden blade mrgreen

I'm going to have a safety switch on it so they can't prove it works as it's actually part of the decorative bits on the case.. and yes, it will be sharp.. very very sharp twisted
