This is an exercise in greater character development and analysis. The question is simple, yet may require some deep and extensive thought for some of you...And here it is:
What are your character's FLAWS?
We all need to keep in mind that some characters will have more flaws than others. And I don't expect everyone to list every single one of their character's downfalls. But let's discuss the more important, more prevalent flaws our characters have.
This goes for both CANON characters and OCs. I want everyone to take a little bit of time (when you have it, for those of you still in school. smile ) and tell me what YOU think your character's flaws are.
Also, everyone remember that what counts as a flaw to one person may not count as a flaw to another. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' and all that rot. wink

Obviously, I'll go first...
Madison
--Maddie is terrible at potions. Partly because she has no innate talent for it, and partly because she doesn't care enough to pay attention to the lectures.
--In keeping with the first one, Madison is arrogant. She's sure that she's the best at everything, and therefore DOESN'T pay attention in most classes. Which aids in her her struggles in History of Magic as well as Potions. XD
--Madison is a serious (dare I say it?) b***h. She has very few friends (if any) because she has trouble being nice to people, and won't let anyone in. Can you say 'abandonment issues'?
--Adding to her abandonment problems, she also has what Celt so nicely coined as 'Daddy issues' (along with some mommy ones as well, I'd think). She feels unloved and blames all of her own failures on her lack of decent parentage, completely unwilling to take responsibility and admit that not ALL of her failures are someone else's fault.
--Madison is a bit crazy. Being half Bella's kid, she inherited her mother's psychosis (as you might have seen when she attacked Tom. XD)
Narcissa
Cissa is a bit more difficult, because she IS canon and I admit I don't know her very well. But going completely on the Narcissa that *I* portray, here is what I think...
--Cissa is weak. She has no backbone, and therefore allows others to walk all over her.
--Cissa completely and devotedly loves her husband, despite his lack of any real interest in her, or her loyalty.
--Cissa lets her son call the shots. Rather than be a PARENT and tell him what's what, she often lets him do as he pleases, taking any verbal abuse he may give her, simply because she loves him.
--The same goes for just about everyone else in her life, which goes back to the first one. She is weak. She lets Bella boss her around, she lets Lucius tell her what to do, she lets Draco get away with nearly anything.
Overall I guess the general consensus on Narcissa is that her main flaw is emotional and social weakness. ^_^
Alright! Now you...GO!
Also, without being rude or unfriendly, DO feel free to add to it if you think I've missed something. This is not a green light to be cruel, guys. I don't want to hear anything unpleasant about anybody's characters. However, if you see some flaw in Maddie and/or Cissa that you think I've missed, don't hesitate to bring it up. But again, we're looking for constructive criticism and character development/analysis, not negativity.

Harry: Like you, Maddie, I'm not sure my Harry is the same as the Harry in the books (let's face it, the book Harry is a douche xD) but these are MY Harry's flaws:
-- He's a bit selfish. He grew up with next to nothing, and I suppose a part of him has abandonment issues like Madison. Except his abandonment issues are more towards his friends.
-- Superhero Complex: Let's face it. He's a kid who's going after one of the most evil beings in recorded history. So let's add stupidly along with the complex, shall we? xD
-- Depression: Despite his desire to see past the bad, Harry does have a tendency to let the odds overwhelm him, but who can say we blame him? After all, he's a teen, right? Every teen has gotten depressed at least ONCE.
-- Temper: Harry DOES have a temper. And it shows up sometimes. It's a very irrational, spur of the moment temper, and during that time, he says things that he otherwise wouldn't even CONSIDER saying. IE, the fight with Ron in the common room.
Caena:
-- Clumsy: Can we count the number of times that Caena has tripped, fallen, gotten bitten, or otherwise embarrassed herself in the RP? xD Because I know I can't. and I hate to say it, but there will probably be more to come. She just has this horrible tendency to fall head over heels over.. well... anything laying on the floor in a room xP
-- Less than perfect appearance: Caena's supposedly born from two very attractive people, but she's almost nothing like them. She's almost too pale, too small compared to the rest of her classmates, too thin. And her hair is too fine, and never stays the way she wants it to.
-- Closed off: Caena has never really had a lot of friends, and with her lack of self-respect, confidence, combined with her ability to make an utter fool of herself, she's really closed herself off to the rest of the world. She's MUCH too shy to really enjoy life.
-- Confidence: In a word? Non-existent. Caena believes that there is not ONE good thing about her to like.

Sweet idea, Mads.
Ron: I actually have the least amount of confidence with my Ron portrayal. I feel like I'm not doing him well at all.
-- He's very impulsive and indecisive. He'll do the most insane things at the snap of fingers for reasons even he can't explain.
-- After growing up with six siblings, he's got a bit of an inferiority complex. He's also prone to being extremely jealous of his friends because they have things they excel at and are recognized for, and he doesn't. In short, he has a big need/want for attention that usually isn't fulfilled.
-- He has a rather flimsy temper and can snap or become irritated over the smallest things. And when he becomes angry, he often lets his rage lead the way for his actions, rather than his logic, which often gets him into massive amounts of trouble.
-- He's tremendously jealous of Harry and all that Harry stands for, because he knows he'll never be able to grasp that fame that Harry has. He doesn't exactly understand what Harry's going through or has gone through to achieve that fame, but he still wants it. Because, in all honesty, he just wants people to notice him. He wants to do something great. But because of his inner insecurities, he never really can.
-- Rub him the wrong way and he'll turn on you; plain and simple. Not immediately, of course, because Ron does have faith in people. But there is a certain point at which he won't take anymore s**t, if you know what I mean. XD
that's all I can do for now. School taim. :3

Excellent, Elaine! biggrin
And for the record, your Ron is awesome. ALL your characters are awesome. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. <333
I think you've done a wonderful job analyzing Ron and I can't wait to see what you have to say for your others. Glad you like the idea. I thought it was creative, and something I never see anyone do. ^_^

ah! such an awesome possum idea for a thread!
I'm feeling reeally swamped right now though, AP class is crazy with homework, tennis matches are popping up everywhere, and now I've got the new random tidbit of having the lead role in a play, lol! Awesome idea though, I'll be sure to get around to it sometime!

Sorry, I've been a bit distracted lately between WoW and work. (It's your fault Maddie and Caena xp ) I love the idea of this thread and I'll get something typed up soon.
I technically have four characters but I doubt I'll do the twins right away. They're not even active in the RP as of yet. I'll get one for Trin and Snape though.

Trinity:
-- Trinity's first and foremost "flaw" is that she's a werewolf. Some would argue that this isn't a flaw, but in my opinion it is. Who wants to change into a savage beast that will kill anything that moves any time there's a full moon?
-- She not's very nice. In fact, she's downright mean.
-- She holds a grudge. She'll give you a chance is she deems you worthy of her time, but if you cross her and/or make her angry she doesn't just get over it. It would take a lot of time and effort to get back on her good side.
-- She stuck up and thinks she's better than most everyone else. She doesn't respect many people, and those she does are usually not of the nicer variety.
-- She grew up in extreme poverty, therefore now that she and her father have come into quite a bit of money (source not released as of yet) she tends to flaunt it.
-- She's a perfectionist. Everything must be done exactly right. This could be the contributing factor to her extreme success in potions, but it also deters her daily life, making sure everything is just right. Fixing that book that's not on the shelf just right, fixing it again because it wasn't good enough, etc.
-- She's also a bit of a germophope. This is a large factor in her solitude.
-- She apathetic towards people that are not within her inner circle of friends and family.
Snape:
Now, He's pretty similar to his Canon character. I don't want to change him too much. But the fact that he has a daughter will give him a bit more compassion. As for his flaws...
-- He's overprotective of his daughter and tends to shelter her.
-- He hates Harry, even though he's helping protect him.
-- He's still in love with a woman who died over fifteen years ago. (Lily.)
-- He tends to favour students of his own house over those of the others, letting them get away with most everything and punishing others for the slightest little mishap.
-- He doesn't trust people. The only people Snape seems to trust are his daughter and Dumbledore, even though he questions Dumbledore's tactics.
That's all I got for now. The same offer goes for Trin and Snape. If I've missed something feel free to add, but be nice.
