I have to say, I think this is my favorite thread. I love the pictures and seeing what everyone who's posted so far has in their mini-libraries heart Vogue, your books are so neat. Mine are a mess right now. I need another shelf.

Later, I'm going to have to find time to take pictures of my bookshelves. Some of my/my husband's books are still in boxes though, so I can't take pictures of them.

I finally took some pictures! These are my books and my husband's books (what's his is mine twisted ). We also have a box or two full of books. Most of the books are my husband's actually. I tend to borrow from the library unless I find some books I really like (The Thief Trilogy and Mark of the Lion trilogy). My husband used to buy them with his lunch money and starve.

My favorite books, which I suggest people read, are:
1) Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton
Summary:
Rusty-James is the number-one tough guy among the junior high kids who hang out and shoot pool at Benny's, and he enjoys keeping up his reputation. What he wants most of all is to be just like his older brother, the Motorcycle Boy. But by his own admission, Rusty-James isn't a particularly smart person, and he relies more on his fists than his brains. Up until now he's gotten along all right because whenever he gets into something he can't handle, the Motorcycle Boy bails him out. But Rusty-James' lack of direction, his longing for the days of the street gangs and his blind drive to be like his brother eat away at his world until all come apart in an explosive chain of events. And this time the Motorcycle Boy isn't around to pick up the pieces.

2) The Client by John Grisham
Summary:
In a weedy lot on the outskirts of Memphis, two boys watch a shiny Lincoln pull up to the curb...Eleven-year-old Mark Sway and his younger brother were sharing a forbidden cigarette when a chance encounter with a suicidal lawyer left Mark knowing a bloody and explosive secret: the whereabouts of the most sought-after dead body in America. Now Mark is caught between a legal system gone mad and a mob killer desperate to cover up his crime. And his only ally is a woman named Reggie Love, who has been a lawyer for all of four years. Prosecutors are willing to break all the rules to make Mark talk. The mob will stop at nothing to keep him quiet. And Reggie will do anything to protect her client -- even take a last, desperate gamble that could win Mark his freedom... or cost them both their lives.

3) Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind by Suzanne Fisher Staple (Book 1 of 3)
Summary:
Shabanu is an eleven-year old girl growing up in present-day Pakistan. She and her family live in the Cholistan Desert where they raise camels. Life is hard but happy as long as Shabanu can tend to her camels and spend time with her family. Of course, Shabanu knows life will become more complicated once she and her sister marry brothers within the next year. Shabanu is at first uninterested and unwilling to grow up, but she is comforted by the thought of always being close to her sister and gradually begins to accept her fate. All seems well until a conflict with a local wealthy land owner ends in tragedy. Now the sisters'plans are ruined, and Shabanu must become the fourth wife of the land owner's brother. Shabanu is determined to live her own life, but she also understands that in order to do what is best for her and her family, she must mature and marry.

4) The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner (Book 1 of 4 of the Thief Series)
Summary:
Although the time period is somewhat similar to ancient Greece, this fantasy story takes place in a Byzantine-like civilization that includes more modern inventions such as rifles, glass window panes, pocket watches, telescopes, cannons, and printed books.

The story takes place in the countries of Sounis, Eddis, and Attolia and is told in the first person from the point of view of Gen, a young thief who, despite his considerable talent for thievery (his own tag line is "I can steal anything"), is languishing in the King of Sounis's prison for the outrageous crime of having stolen the King’s Seal and bragging about it in a wine shop. Gen is released from prison by the king’s scholar--his magus. The magus finds Gen filthy, uncouth, and insolent, but he needs Gen’s skills as a thief. Without telling Gen where they are going, he takes him out of the city.

NOTE: After the first book, the series really takes off into war and schemes. In book two, Eugenides (Gen) gets his hand cropped off by the queen of Attolia and has to learn to cope and become super awesome in a world of war and politics. He has to learn how to be the Queen's Thief of Eddis with one hand.

5) A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers (Book 1 of 3 of the Mark of the Lion Trilogy)
Summary:
It is the story of a young Christian-Jewish slave named Hadassah living under the Roman Empire. When Hadassah is captured by Roman soldiers, her entire family is killed. She serves as a slave to a spoiled young Roman woman named Julia. Although Julia initially dislikes Hadassah because of her plain appearance, she comes to trust her. Hadassah is faithful and kind but afraid of many things. As the story progresses, she gains the courage to tell others about her faith and the God that she serves.

My bookshelf is not worthy. xD

I must get a job to support my book habit.
Having no money = taking out library books constantly and not having a worthy bookshelf.
