Well I'm sure a lot of people learn and develop their own styles, but sinc eI can't remember the new thread I was gunna make, I will post this with the many videos I have come across while waiting for dissidia. Feel free to post your own videos, commentary, ect ect. The first post will give you a advanced Mateus guide you may or may not find helpful.

Though he isn't undefeated, he has lost a bunch of times online. The players are vicious and we have a set of rules to keep from cheating. You know how many cloud players would win if we didn't make though rules. WoL players would be ripping through people like paper, Cloud's brave will be 9999 almost right away, yeah, that is with the limits.

Well as you know the japanese version, just about everything was stronger, characters were unbalanced like in any fighting game blah blah yack yack, you get what I mean. But have you noticed some videos that had characters with 6999 health? They play by the American/European rules that was set up by a community that bought dissidia back in 08.
Each character has a way to cheat, infinities, ex-mode fighting( Usually mean you stay in it the whle time), ultimate weapons. The weapons were dumbed down th ethe US release, but if you had Gigantaxe with garland in the JP version, you could break brave in a hit with all the bonuses it gave.
Firion and Mateus have blood on their side and in ex-mode they recover with each hp attack, sorta like night sword in tactics. So in theory, they really can't die nearly as easy. Cloud's brave goes up with ultima weapon in hand as time goes by.
So we set up rules to even the playing field and prevent 1 second battles. Though there is only one exception to the general rules and that's Gabranth. He cannot hurt you unless in Ex-Mode, literally. He can only hurt you in Ex-Mode which is why he gets off. Ex-blasts are allowed if I remember correctly, but yeah, I think you get what I mean.

God damn.
That Mateus vs Cloud fight was pathetic.
Whoever was playing cloud was putting him to shame. Mateus was literally dancing around him the entire match.

You use his moves to get out of the way? I mean all his moves for the most part are made for dodging. Sorry if I come off rude. My wording isn't my strong point. I talk a lot and my tone usually tells my attitude. Just for everyone's info. I don't mean to offend. Used to talking instead of typing. It changes when I rp.
