For those who like debating and feel like discussing things, this is the sticky for you. Keep it clean, please.
Current Topic Should people who do shitty jobs deserve to get paid way more than they do, or is getting paid nothing to do shitty jobs, and getting paid a ton to do nothing, just society's way of dividing itself?
Suggested Topics
Past Topics Do you feel like Gaia, in taking money from huge companies like skittles and MTV, "has sold itself out"? How do you feel about Gaia cash; is it a fun new development that allows people without much time to play on Gaia to still be able to get items, or do you feel like it's somehow cheating, that you shouldn't be able to buy your way into the high-ranks of gaia. Your views, please. Global Warming: Fact or fiction? Should Marijuana be legalized? If a vampire bit a person with a blood-borne disease (Like AIDS) would the vampire catch the disease? Does George Bush's No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 exclude otherwise competent students from completing high school because of unfair standards and a heavy reliance on National Standardized Tests? Paranormal Activity: Fact or fiction? Who's a worse actor: Ben Stiller or Keanu Reeves? 2012: Is it a myth, or are we all about to die? Have we lost the spirit of the holidays, or is this what the month of December was meant to be? Did the US government unnecessarily rush the healthcare reform bill just to get home for Christmas? Is it just me, or do actors/actresses/"popular" musicians make way too much ******** money? Is there enough exciting stuff in this guild to keep people occupied? What are your favorite things, and what could you do without? What would make it better? Which country will bring home the most medals? Is Palin getting in a big huff for no reason about the Family Guy episode with the down syndrome girl, or is her argument well-founded?
It seems that every time I read the Sunday newspaper, there's another health alert about either an additive such as MSG that has been proven to give us cancer. Should the FDA be more strict in its food guidelines, or is it our own faults for eating it in the first place? Would you rather live a long long life but experience the progressive changes of getting old, or die at 50 but never experience the wear and tear of age?

Personally, I believe they have. I was here when Gaia was pretty much new, and there wasn't much to do and the system often crashed, but it was more fun. The chatterbox was full of more than just chatter, it was actually useful for something other than crap. I'm all for new members, but by taking money from the big corporations I feel like they've opened up the doors for everyone and anyone to join, which just turns into a flood of illiterate people who compete with their friends for stuff rather than having conversations. Gaia isn't supposed to be about items, although they're certainly fun; it's supposed to be a community where people connect and participate in activities with one another.
This isn't to say, however, that they don't deserve to get paid for what they do. I do think, though, that they should be more selective and less mainstream. Support a smaller company, help the online community grow and build up the individual instead of the corporate giant.

I agree, I feel like Gaia is becoming greedy. These days you have to have Gaia Cash to have any cool looking item, if you don't you have a hell of a time getting that item. I think that once Gaia tasted the 'Benjamin's' they wanted more, and would do anything to get em'.

I totally agree.
And, in response to the poll, I only argue about stupid things. REALLY stupid things LMAO.
What can I say? I inherit it from my parents lol.

I think that once Gaia tasted the 'Benjamin's' they wanted more, and would do anything to get em'. xD I liked the "Benjamin's" part, *lollerskater*. Do you think, though, that they deserve to at least make some money off of what they do? I think I liked the whole donation letter thing, where you get a surprise for like $2.50 a pop, but I don't necessarily agree with gaia cash. I mean, what it all boils down to is that the items are pixels, no matter how fun they are, and I don't think that pixels should be equivalent to money (except where donations are concerned; it's a donation, so getting pixels back is nice :3). I don't think I'm trying to bash on Gaia or say the people are undeserving, but I'm concerned that by taking money from the big guys and making more and more things cost money that it's going to change in a negative way and drive out all the people who come here to RP and debate, leaving it to ruin just like the n00b attack thread.

I agree with the donation letter statement, Gaia does deserve props for being pretty cool. I still remember the winter snow storm, and you called and asked me to join Gaia so you, me, Keela, and Voodo could communicate via internet. Those were the good old days....

Ugh, since none of you other bastards are joining in, I'll do this myself! Yes, global warming is real. The people who deny it are just lying to themselves because acting on this threat is too much of an inconvenience. Unfortunately, it's too far along for anything to really stop it so there's no point in fussing about it now d:

I think it's real, but Al Gore needs to make a better video about it, I watched it and fell asleep after crying about the polar bears (Because they showed some depressing footage of polar bears).
The proof is here in Oregon, it seems like every winter is worse and worse. Last winter we had snow, more snow, then arctic winds that dropped us into the negatives. Oregon never used to be that bad, we would simply have a normal snowy winter and stay in the 20's. Even our last summer was bad, we hit triple digits for the majority of the summer. And now this summer (Well it's almost over...) it's only a hundred once, then it stays in the 90's and 80's. Not only is temperature weird but there was a tornado in Vancouver, Washington just above Oregon, Oregon and Washington almost never get tornado's because it's a state of valley's and plains. The weather is getting so weird and I think it's because of global warming, how else can we explain this weird weather?

But some would argue that it's just a "phase", or that crap about El Nino. However you've brought up some compelling evidence. The problem is that I don't think people really believe it's an issue, and they won't until it's too late.

The problem is that I don't think people really believe it's an issue, and they won't until it's too late. Like the movie Day after Tomorrow, or the Happening. The trees will hate us soon. xp But there is also the case that going green is quiet expensive. I saw on Colbert Report that some electric cars are like cell phones that you buy minutes for, but the electric cars you have to buy miles or you can pay a steady payment each month for your ideal amount of miles. Also they require you to buy a back up battery for the car which is pretty pricey as well. So all together you'd have to buy the car (assuming it comes with a battery already) and a spare battery, a charger, and pay for your miles. All of that sounds very expensive, I think I'd rather use that type of money for food, rent, books, ect. However I do think the world should switch to reusable bags, and that they shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. They should be free!!! Or at the least less then $5. 3nodding

I think most electric cars are just regular cars. Yeah, maybe you should have a back-up battery, but that seems like just a precaution and not a requirement. Also, I agree with the reusable bags thing. ._. They should also stop making so much plastic crap.
