I could feel the sunlight lightly touching my skin. It felt nice but... somehow, it felt different. Different as in, not as nice as it use to feel, not as warm as it use to feel. I laid back and relaxed and slowly opened my eyes. I started to look at the clouds one by one and imagined what they looked like, just as I use too when I was little. When my parents were alive, and when my brother and sister would always be right next to me. I slowly started to day dream of the days when my family was together...... before the fire, when my family slowly started to drift apart. Suddenly my dog started barking like crazy. I got up and went to see what was wrong with him. He was usually pretty quiet, and he was extremely brave. Considering his huge size, most people were scared of him. If he was being as loud as he is being now, I knew something was wrong.

I started to run to my bedroom, where he would usually be when he wasn't next to me. "Hero?" I yelled. "Hero, here boy!". Finally I got to my bedroom and saw him barking and growling at a Tracker. Hero quickly ran to me and I bent down and started scratching behind his ears, peting him, and hugging him to try to calm him down "What are you doing here?" I asked the vampire pointing at me. "You have been summoned by the House Of Night to stay, live, and get educated." the Tracker said in a strange obnoxious way. "Why Me then, Why chose some kid that only lives because of her dog?". I shouted. "Nyx has chosen you young one, you have but much to learn..." suddenly a saw a bright light blast from the Tracker's finger and land on my forehead. I suddenly got a powerful and horrible head ache. My legs started to get weaker and weaker and I slowly lost my strength to keep myself up. I fell back onto the floor. My vision got blurry and my hearing started to fade away. All I could hear was my Siberian husky barking and putting his paws on me trying to get me to wake up and my two siblings rush into the room and scream in shock. The last thing I saw was my brother picking me up and rushing out the door with my sister and dog running close behind.
