The Office of the Captain of 2nd Division, where he spends his time complaining about paperwork. People don't usually come here unless summoned, since the Captain likes the privacy of his office.

Rednal quietly relaxed in his seat, idly sipping tea from a cup as he did so. His subordinates, by now, should've been fighting hard down on Earth against the Hollows that had been summoned to that place... so there was no real worry. People in his Division tended to get the picture quickly. He only accepted success; those who failed would quickly be removed from the Division. In that way, he got rid of the useless ones and kept only the strong, which was why his Division was the one known for getting things done.

I have been mortified by the number of Reapers who have been defecting.
I feel that we must take action against this catastrophic occurance.I volunteer myself to lead a strike team to enter hueco mundo and eradicate not only the rogue shinigami, but to destroy the primera with a single executed attack.I have realized that many captains, along with their second and third seat units, beleive that such an action would cause too much damage to our own while destroying very little comparitivly, that is why I offer up this calculation;By destroying all those who left the Shinigami and destroying the Primera we shall inflict great morale damage to the enemy and make an example of those who have betrayel in their heart.

Walking into the captains' office, Tsubaki sat down in a chair that was placed near a wall. Blood dripped off his body, on to the clean floor. "Rednal . ." He said in a low voice.

Gripping his Zanpakuto, he sighed slightly.

Pushing the doors open, the young lieutenant walked in with a stern look upon his face. Sitting on a chair inside the captains office. His clothes shredded, his body bruised.

"I wonder, when the captain will come back. . ." He said as he waited patiently.

The chair the Captain sat in was a massive thing, completely obscuring anybody who was in it when it was turned around. Unless they were particularly tall or particularly fat, of course. This chair had been facing away from the door when the Lieutenant entered, and Rednal certainly hadn't been in the room, but eventually it turned around to reveal the Captain. He calmly propped his feet up on his desk. "You know, people don't usually come in here without me asking them to." he said conversationally. "My office is a generally private area, after all."

Rising to his feet, he stood holding his right arm with his left, standing directly in front of the desk. "I hadn't thought that would apply to me." He said in a joking manor.

Taking a deep breath, and releasing the air slowly. "Sir, I need to acquire my bankai." Tsubaki's humorous tone shifted to a more serious state. The lieutenant looked as if he was going to die standing, but he was giving the captain a look, as if he would do anything to acquire it.

"And what makes you think you're ready to acquire it?" Rednal asked, calmly relaxing where he was. "Kids these days; Bankai this and Special that, like you'll somehow become better by getting it. There's a reason it generally takes decades to learn; nothing you rush through is ever as strong as it could be." he made a motion generally indicating outside somewhere. "Like those Espada earlier. I didn't do anything special or throw massive amounts of power at them. I fired one attack each. I'll help you train for your Bankai when I think you're ready to handle it, not before. As it is now, you're clearly missing the point." Rednal had never been the sort of Captain who said things like 'Sure, go ahead, everything is fine'. He was hard on himself, and he was hard on everybody under him, because he didn't just want soldiers. He wanted the absolute best. And that meant, among other things, knowing your limits. "Why don't I tell you a story..."

"Sir! Look at me!" The lieutenant slightly raised his voice taking a few steps back looking down at his own body, his robe barely hanging on to his body by his belt, blood stained his face, and various parts of his body.

"I just went through one of your training simulations, I nearly died." Looking down at the ground, his left hand rested on the hilt of his Zanpakuto. Taking a step closer to the desk. "I am not the one to rush, or over shoot my limitations, but if I do feel my limitations can take me to bankai, I will go with my instinct."

Sighing heavily as he fell back into a chair, gripping his zanpakuto. Looking through his dark brown hair that had fallen over his eyes. "Story?"

"That's my point." Rednal said. "There was this kid once, a nice young girl, pretty normal until she discovered her powers. Like most of us, really. She wasn't the strongest person ever, but she was strong enough to make it necessary for everybody to take her seriously. So she used her powers, trained hard, and tried to solve problems the best she could. The first major time around, it was dangerous, but she pulled through. The second time something major occured, the opponent she fought was out of her league. She was good, but her opponent was better, and she got beaten down very badly. It wasn't life-threatening, and she did recover, though, and once she did, she started fighting again, this time using a dangerous, unstable power that she couldn't control. In the end, the situation was resolved properly, and she eventually even became friends with the people she'd fought."

"So you're saying, I would have no control?" He stated, rising from his chair. Looking out the window. 'Why would I have to get the captain like this. .' He thought to himself. "I am not dimwitted! And if that is what you are allocating, then for someone to have such little faith in his own lieutenant no less. That down right rotten."

Rotating his shoulder back, and facing the captain once more. "Let me prove I am the best, let me prove I can handle it." He said resting his hands on the captains desk.

"Did I say I was done?" Rednal asked. "For both of those major events, there was a happy ending. And then, a few years later, the girl nearly died against a weak enemy she should have had no trouble at all defeating. She spent more years in recovery, trying to rehabilitate herself when the doctors didn't think she could ever even walk again. This happened because she pushed herself too far." he smiled. "Among other things, you need to know how to be honest with yourself. If you really believe you can prove yourself, bring me the head of an Espada, and I'll train you then. I don't care which one it is. But if you fail to do it when you go out and manage to survive to get back, I'm going to demote you to 4th Seat. You'll only have one chance; I don't have the luxury of allowing somebody who can't back up their words to be my second-in-command. Being a Lieutenant isn't a game; you're responsible for the lives of your subordinates, and this is the Special Task Force. We are the best. If you'd rather wait to train until I say you're ready, there are no penalties for that, and I won't look down on you for making a rational choice. So, what's it to be?"

Turning around, facing away from the captain. Tsubaki made his way for the door, limping most of the way. Once the door was pushed open, he stopped and looked back. "Ok sir. . I am going, but not to kill an Espada, I am going to go find myself." He said walking out, letting the door close gently behind him.
