Lynians

Lynians are races of intelligent natives living within the lands of Minegarde. There are currently only two known Lynian species: the cat-like species which harbor the Melynx and Felyne, and those of the Shakalaka. They are both intelligent, have complex societies, and use a language, although the Shakalaka are more primitive and barbaric. While the cat species tend to live peacefully in democratic societies, the Shakalaka are governed by a king or ruler, also known as King Shakalaka, identified by a BBQ Spit on top of its head, a bigger weapon, and a bigger mask than the other Shakalakas.

Examples:
Melynx
Felyne
Shakalaka
King Shakalaka
ChaCha

Neopteron

Neopteron are small insect monsters that usually travel in swarms. Because their shells are so brittle, they rarely drop materials when slain.

Vespoid
Queen Vespoid
Hornetaur
Great Thunderbug

Herbivores

Herbivores are weak monsters that eat vegetation from grass or trees instead of hunting for meat. They are usually docile monsters which may attack or run away if threatened. They range in many different sizes and species. Although they are all in the same group, many of the species are not closely related to each other.

Examples:
Aptonoth
Apceros
Popo
Kelbi
Anteka
Mosswine

Pelagus monsters are beastly mammalian creatures that operate with only legs, and no wings. They are often much faster than other larger threats. The first primatius bosses came out in Monster Hunter 2. They were referred to as Primatius in earlier translations, but as of Unite are known as Pelagus.

Example:
Rajang
Conga
Congalala
Emerald Congalala
Blango
Blangonga
Copper Blangonga
Bullfango
Bulldrome

Bird Wyverns

Bird Wyverns are wyverns that are ancestral to birds. They usually have beaks (Gypceros is an exception to this)and are small in size compared to other wyverns . They often move and attack in a distinctly chicken-like manner. They are faster than standard wyverns due to their small size. Raptor-like monsters such as the Velociprey are part of the Bird Wyverns because of their close ancestry to birds.

Examples:
Velociprey
Velocidrome
Giaprey
Giadrome
Genprey
Gendrome
Ioprey

Carapaceon

Carapaceons are crustacean-like monsters that have hard shells and exoskeletons or crab-like bodies, which mostly require weapons with at least green sharpness to break. When they're weakened by physical damage, they show internal bleeding by the frothing of the purple bubbles from their mouths. Most of these crustaceans resemble crabs, lobsters or scorpions.

Examples:
Daimyo Hermitaur
Plum Daimyo Hermitaur
Hermitaur
Shogun Ceanataur
Terra Shogun Ceanataur
Ceanataur
Akura Vashimu
Silver Akura Vashimu

Wyvern

Wyverns are large, bipedal monsters that have two wings. Some Wyverns are quadrupedal monsters, operating their wingarms as forearms instead like Tigrex and Nargacuga. Some are flightless despite their classification as quadruple Wyverns like Akantor and Ucamulbas. These wyverns show their wyverian ancestry by the small forewings on their two front limbs. Wyverns make up a large majority of monsters in Minegarde.

Example:
Gigi Whelp
Khezu
Red Khezu
Giginebura -also classified as Pseudowyvern
Monoblos
White Monoblos
Diablos
Black Diablos

Piscines

Piscines are a class of aquatic (or ancestors of aquatic fishes) monsters. They all have the common trait of some form of swimming, whether it is the Plesioth in the water, Cephadrome in the sand, or Lavasioth in the lava. They usually have a fish-like body with fins and/or wings that help them swim. The only new piscine that will appear in MH3 is the Derukusu or Desert Sailfin.

Example:
Cephalos
Cephadrome
Plesioth
Green Plesioth
Lavasioth
Red Volganos
Derukusu
Shark

Elder Dragon

Elder Dragons are unique creatures that are able to live in a variety of landscapes and have a long lifespan. Although named dragons, they don't all necessarily have four legs or wings. Some may be horse-like like the Kirin, or octopus-like like the Yamatsukami because of their uneccessary fitting into any categories of monsters. There were only 3 dragons in the original Monster Hunter (Kirin, Lao-Shan Lung and Fatalis), but in Monster Hunter 2, that amount was increased to 12. Most of the added elder dragons, however, are very vulnerable at their sides, leading Capcom to add something extra like the wind barrier for the Kushala.A trait unique to Elder Dragons is that if they are injured by the hunter, they may run to a different area. Elder Dragons are the most unique and often the most difficult to defeat monsters found in Minegarde.

Example:
Lao-Shan Lung
Azure Lao-Shan Lung
Fatalis (Elder Dragon God)
Crimson Fatalis (Elder Dragon God)
White Fatalis (Elder Dragon God)
Teostra
Lunastra
Kushala Daora
Rusted Kushala Daora
Chameleos
Albatrion
Kirin
Yama Tsukami

Leviathans

Leviathans are a newly discovered species of monster able to be hunted on land or underwater in Monster Hunter 3. They aren't very well known and have been classified as cryptids for years. We aren't sure how many species there are exactly. But the most notable of them all is the magnificent Ragiakurusu. More information on these creatures and their behaviors will be known once MH3 releases in 2009. More species are being discovered including a volcanic crocodilian like Leviathan that can drill into to volcanic rock and swim in lava. It has also been confirmed that Chanagaburu is a species of Leviathan and not a piscine.

Example:
Lagiacrus
Chanagaburu
Rudorosu
Roarudorosu
Navaldeus
Fenshenlon
Agunacotol

Theropods/Beast Dragons

Theropods or Beast Dragons are a newly discovered species of monster that are very similar to large theropod dinosaurs in their overall bodyshape and will be making their very first appearance along with Leviathans in Monster Hunter 3. These creatures are known to live near any immediate food source which includes many types of minerals as well as live prey. They are also known to be very aggressive towards hunters and as a result charge blindly through their environment, knocking down many obstacles in their path. The first species to ever be discovered was the Boruborosu. This creature lives in the desert and usually rests in large oasis mudflats area's. Because of this their nostrils are positioned on top of their heads and at first glance look like large tubes protruding from its head. They are a perfect example of how aggressive these creatures can be, having a ferocity that rivals even that of a Diablos. There are only three known species, one of which is only known by its incredible ferocity and its Alias the "Terror Rampage Dragon".

Example:
Boruborosu
Uragankin
Ibirujo
