As has been suggested by a couple of our valued members, here we have the author of the month nominations.
This will run alongside the Book of the Month each month, but will be a separate discussion.
The author of the month cannot be the author of the book of the month (that just doesn't seem logical).

The idea is that an author will be nominated each month (and we shall try not to have repeats), and a thread will be set up for the discussion of this author's books.
This is particularly good for those who do not enjoy the book of the month, but still want something to discuss.

So get nominating a worthwhile author and the voting will begin on the 19th of this month at the same time as the book of the month's poll starts.

For my man author I suggest Jay Lake and his book Green~
For my woman author I suggest Laurell K Hamilton OR I really would like to delve deeper into Charlaine Harris' books~ *especially her Sophie ones* wink
My first idea for this was Washington Irving the man behind the classic story of Sleepy Hollow~

Vogue, are we doing an Author of the Month for adults and children/young adult books? Or just one author for the month?

I'd also like that to be clarified. While I love Anne Bishop I don't think she's very appropriate for younger readers.

Laurell K. Hamilton is a good choice...though her books are definitely adult oriented. Lots of sex and/or gore depending on which.

I saw author of the month as being more of an adults' author, rather than a young adult, as I know a few of the book nominations are.

I have noticed that more of our members are older (So 18 and above), so I'm trying to get a few more adult fiction books going.
If after October we still don't have the variety, then we shall see about separate nominations for YA and Adult books.
But I think the nominations are quite varied at the moment.

I nominate Richard Matheson. Most brilliant horror writer I've ever come across; his stories kept me from sleeping soundly :3
