Those games that were never effing translated. /headdesk
Currently I am researching the original 'Slayers' game for the Super Nintendo(SNES). Information from me about the other games will not be provided at this time. Information from me about World of Warcraft's Lina Inverse will not be provided either, at this time.
What is Slayers?
Slayers was the first game of the series ever created. It came out around the same time as the first movie, "Slayers: The Motion Picture". Although this game was the first, it had absolutely nothing to do with the storyline of the Slayers manga. This also goes for all other Slayers games. Each game has all of our lovable characters, of course, but the game is in an alternative universe that has nothing to do with the actual Slayers storyline. Unfortunately, I do not know much more about the storyline other than that.
Translation?
Currently, the game has not been fully fan-translated. The game company that produced Slayers is famous for never releasing their games to anywhere except Japan.
However, it is very easily possible to find translations for the battle menus, items, spells, and equip menus. All in which are surprisingly similar to Dragon Quest.
So far, the best translation available has the menus, of course, and comes with storyline dialog for the first one or two towns in the game.
It's not great, but it's better than nothing, right?
Translation Files FAQ;
First, download the SNES emulator, ZSNES, found Here.
Second, download Slayers, which can be found Here.
Third, download the translation files found Here.
Note; To download and use any of these files, you must have a program called WinRAR, found Here.
Forth, extract the file "Slayers (J).smc" from Slayers (J).zip. (Click and Drag the file into a folder or your desktop.)
Fifth, extract the file "slayers(v2).IPS" from the translation .zip and place it in the same folder you placed "Slayers (J).smc".
Sixth, rename "slayers(v2).IPS" to "Slayers (J).IPS". It has to have the EXACT same name as "Slayers (J).smc" except for the ".IPS" at the end, or it won't work.
Seventh and Final, Extract all files in the ZSNES .zip into a folder, and use zsnesw.exe (File name may be different depending on which version of ZSNES you downloaded, such as Windows, Mac, or etc.)
Once you've opened zsnesw.exe, a purple menu with snow falling with appear. Click on "Game", then "Load". Direct it to the file you placed Slayers (JP).smc and click on the file. The game will now start. Once you get to the menu that says "START" press Enter. Lina will be laying on the ground, and someone called "MN" (Probably "Man") will yell "A girl!". If he's screaming crazy Japanese symbols, you messed up somewhere.

Only problem is that PS1 games are very large files compared to SNES games.
My next research project will be for Slayers Royal. At a glance, the translation will probably be much more easier to find, but it may or may not actually be built into the game, sadly. You might have to look at the script on a webpage, but that's better than the SNES Slayers translation. Sheesh.
It's really sad-- I've played alot of untranslated games, but untranslated RPGs just make you screwed in the end. You have no idea what's going on, you don't know what you're suppose to do next, etc. Unless you look up a guide.

I can read some hiragana and katakana, but once you get into kanji, I'm fairly hopeless XD So occasionally I can figure out what they're saying, but I always have a guide up just in case.
