I like canon ships the best simply because I am a canon person. I dislike people who go on and on about how Harry should have married Hermione because the books says here and here blah blah, well guess what the AUTHOR wrote it as Ron/Hermione which makes it canon and makes you wrong. People need to accept that certain things are canon and certain things are not. I don't mind non-canon pairings but I dislike people who try to pass them off as something else.

Other than that I love OC ships and Rare pairings too. OC's are only good when the OC is a well rounded character though. And rare ships are fun because I like to see if the author can actually make it plausible. I think its a good demonstration of writing ability if they can.

I have a dream couple and I think it is pretty obvious who I like best together from my favorite fandom. Yeah- Jounouchi Katsuya and Seto Kaiba- Puppyshipping. But to be honest- I hate the name. I wish I could rename it "DragonShipping" but that name is already used by Yami x Jounouchi. I just think it makes more sense to call Jounouchi and Kaiba DragonShipping because they had the two most popular dragons in the series.

That... and I bet there would be a lot less of the cutesy 13 year old girl genderbent personalities going on if it was called Dragon instead of puppy. Hearing in my mind Seto Kaiba calling Jounouchi "puppy" is just so wrong. I feel the shipping name only encourages this stupid nickname that never occurs in the show- least not in an endearing way. Kaiba calls Jou a DOG. Which... is like, always a bad thing.

For an enemy couple- names of the shipping should always be more fitting than this one. I don't know what I would do if I found out that Inuyasha x Sesshomaru was something like "FluffyShipping". OH GOD. How horrible. Though... people already call him fluffy- imagine how much more they would... if yeah. xd

Isn't it funny, though, how fanon can grown so much that it becomes almost like secondary canon? Authors can start drawing on other authors' interpretations of characters just as much as they do from canon.

I can think of a few pairings in my fandoms that have become so big that they're barely questioned any more. For example, Milo/Camus (Saint Seiya) is so popular that it looks like even the newest canon releases (LC) started borrowing the fanon concept!

That said, I have a bone to pick with shipping. See, I'm a gen-girl and I hate how a large amount of fanfiction seems to revolve around ships. It's like all authors care about is getting character A together with B! There's this newsletter that I subscribe to that lists all the fanfics that were posted on a daily basis, and the info they give about those fics isn't title and summary - oh no, it's title and pairing... asdfg! >_<

I really dislike that fandom obsession with shipping. I mean, if you like the plot and characterization, does it really matter who gets with who, or if there are any pairings at all? And then there are those fans who read a gen fic and go, "OMG I SHIP IT NAO!!11! 8D" stare

Although, I won't lie: I like to write really bizarre, fanon-fringe pairings just to spite people. 3nodding

Often times, those make for really good stories (and pairings x3).
