Oh yes, you people knew it was inevitable! I read Twilight & New Moon before this crazy obsession happened, and I loved it then. Although Eclipse and Breaking Dawn kind of suck =/ The movie also looks like it sucks, so i never want to see it, aha xD Did you read Twilight? How did you like it? Isnt she planning to release a book based on Edward's perspective ?_?

Read all four books post craze with the sole intent of understanding my enemy. i found the books one dementional and bland with way too much cliche and not enough depth. i could care less what the books look like from edwards perspective because it will be just as idiotic a story.

About the books...I can't say that I liked them all that much. The characters were too shallow, there was no plot, it wasn't about love, it was about obsession and control. The movie was bad too. Terrible acting, same shallow characters and lack of plot...total flop in my opinion. And as for the book from Edward's perspective, I thought she wasn't ever going to publish it.

Honestly, Twilight, from a pure literary standpoint, is poorly written, cliche, garbage. The stupid teen drama love stories, the mystical and mysterious (but ultimately bullshit) vampire lore (vampires don't sparkle/humans are not friends, they are food), and the "perfect guy" syndrome that infects the minds of young teenage girls everywhere.
It's simply a bad series and I don't understand why anyone likes it. If you want to read about vampires, how about picking up Nosferatu, or Dracula or even Hellsing? At least these series stick to vampire lore and don't waste time on silly human/vampire romances that would never actually happen as the vampire would ultimately give in to the need for blood.

Mosferatu is a REALLY bad black and white film from the 1920's, please dont recommend it to anyone. In terms of vampire series, Anne Rice's was okay. Movie wise, i liked 'Dracula: Dead and Loving it' xd

i liked the movie, though i hate the hype. and i despise the books. they have a horrid writing style, i can't stand to read it, and Bella makes for a terrible rolemodel. very "do as i say, not as i do" hypocracy, and impressionable little girls are not going to listen to the good solid advice about taking charge and not needing another person in order to feel complete when Bella herself is off playing the damnsel in distress, stressing over the boy she is obsessing over. it is realistic, i know, but it just isn't a healthy read. confused
as a guy, i feel that the way it plays out is empowering to me, seeing how Edward responds to his problems, struggles between his desires and his percieved responcibilities, but i also understand that it is teaching girls to repress themselves, and that's borderline sexist. xp

Chieftain Twilight i liked the movie, though i hate the hype. and i despise the books. they have a horrid writing style, i can't stand to read it, and Bella makes for a terrible rolemodel. very "do as i say, not as i do" hypocracy, and impressionable little girls are not going to listen to the good solid advice about taking charge and not needing another person in order to feel complete when Bella herself is off playing the damnsel in distress, stressing over the boy she is obsessing over. it is realistic, i know, but it just isn't a healthy read. confused as a guy, i feel that the way it plays out is empowering to me, seeing how Edward responds to his problems, struggles between his desires and his percieved responcibilities, but i also understand that it is teaching girls to repress themselves, and that's borderline sexist. xp While I agree on the point of bella but edward is a terrible role model for young men and a stupid object of desire for young women. He may strugle with desire v. responsibility but his way of dealing with it is running away (New Moon) and his only solution to his heartache is suicide. Seriously the book could have been over with twilight if Edward had just made the logical descision to turn Bella. Seriously, Bella: "I love you, I want to be with you forever." Edward: "I feel the same way *chomp*" Voila! All drama averted no need for any bullshit or to draw this out for another three books. Instead we get a whiny p***y who never mans up on either side. He dosen't just kill and eath this girl who's particular scent is screaming "EAT ME!" every second that she's within about 50-100 feet. and until that part when she's about to die he dosen't turn her. For girls they get this great concept of dating a boy who is drop dead gorgeous, intelectualy stimulating and a complete a*****e who dosen't want to hear any of your desires unless they concur with his own. seriously he's like the epitome of an abusive boyfriend (not physicaly, emotionay) he treats her like s**t and every once in a while, just when she thinks she's over him he pops back up and does something romantic. but it's ok because he's a beautiful marble sculpture of a man. also it teaches to settle for the first pretty guy that talks to you in highschool.
